Ok the homes are actually somewhat affordable. Not like ridiculous prices. But I can imagine that the plane noises can be quite nerve wrecking when you want to chill outside

The residents who choose to live there do not care. They eat, sleep, and breathe aviation. Plus, there must be some quiet hours or curfew. I would love to be immersed in a community where everyone shares the same passion.

So what ever happened with the HOA board refusing to clear trees at the end of the runway resulting in the FAA disallowing gps approaches at night? Did that ever get cleared up? It’s hard to imagine a premier fly-in community not putting the airport operations and safety as a priority over trimming/cutting trees.

I used to work there in 1980 doing cargo conversions on Convair 240s. The place has changed a lot since then and thankfully the Convairs are gone. I'm sure everyone living there has heard about N300GR.

The thing about Spruce Creek is there are homes here in all price ranges. You can live in a small condo or a big home. You don't have to own an airplane, but if you are an aviation enthusiast there are many ways to fly without spending a fortune. There are rich people here, for sure. But there are folks here who aren't wealthy who choose to live in a fun place.

Nothing against the neighborhood, but I hope the golf club goes bankrupt. I played there years ago, and had lunch, gave very big tips. Sometime later, I showed up for lunch, and the nasty brunette told me to get out due to alcohol rules. I told her I wasn't looking for alcohol, just lunch. She still told me to get out and missed out on a nice tip. I sure hope this place goes bankrupt. Nasty place, it became for some reason.
