Some additional information for everyone as I am in Muscat right now, Indian passports do not need to apply for an evisa before travel as visa is on arrival and free of cost, you will only pay AED 30 per person exit fee at Dubai immigration. Insurance for your car is available right after Dubai check post and before crossing Oman immigration, AED 100 for 10 days insurance coverage. Do not buy a sim card at the check post as it is expensive, drive a couple of KMs and you will find shops on the right and Sim along with data is as cheap as 2 riyals. Roads have a 10km buffer limit unlike UAE which is 20 KM.
