I especially appreciate that he doesn't try to finish her sentences for her when she's stuttering or struggling to find her words- some people would do it out of a gut instinct to "help" or to save the speaker from embarrassment. Instead, he begins by acknowledging her stroke and the toll it has taken on her and simply gives her the time she needs to put the nightmare she lived into words. It's clear throughout the interview how much he's amazed by this woman's recovery, composure, and eloquence. It's obvious (at least to me) he respects the hell out of her, and I'm so grateful such a talented reporter/interviewer is helping her tell the world her story.

Unlike the dogs what he did was give Kathleen a voice to be heard.. but I am praying that with the right representation in a court of law that her attorney or the attorney that is representing her and these dogs will in a court of law correlate that April is guilty of abusing and neglecting her mother as well as these dogs and I pray to God that those charges April will be accountable for on top of the charges of neglect and abuse for each one of those dogs and that maybe there by the grace of God is a loop hole where there are so many charges against her that they will be in the position to upgrade the degree of the charges against her for those dogs even if it ends up being less charges with a more severe penalty..God is watching April.. and everyone from adult services to the Chandler police department God is watching you too .God is good and in the end the truth will prevail

I love dogs more than I love humans, HOWEVER it seems like everyone is reporting on the dogs, and this poor woman doesn't even get a mention! Her daughter should be in jail right now! The abuse this woman suffered is unimaginable. She is still in disbelief that it really was that bad. It’s heartbreaking and so angering that April had the audacity to abuse her own mother and abuse the dogs, especially the one that couldn’t control his bowels. It’s not the dogs fault! April needs to be prosecuted for the abuse she inflicted on that dog and all the other dogs and her mother. One of the dogs had to be humanely euthanized because he was reported to be in a state of such extreme suffering that there was no other choice. Rudy did not deserve that. None of them did. Vehemently denying that the police could be shielding her seems bizarre with her facing no repercussion for what has been proven, 5 dogs dead and her horribly neglecting them for money and her own mother. As someone who rescues animals (exotics, mainly snakes, ferrets, lizards, frogs and tarantulas. I used to take in rodents and rabbits too but it started to be too much and no longer accept them) this makes me so angry. My rescue is self-funded and I never take on more than I can handle. My animals are all fed well, clean, have access to fresh water, heat and enrichment. If you cannot provide for ALL the animals needs AND take care of your own home and own life too, you cannot run a rescue, period! She clearly was taking on wayyy more than she could handle. How was no one checking up on THAT MANY dogs!?!? That is way more dogs than my large city's Humane Society which has many employees and volunteers. Even they had to shut their doors to new intakes last summer because you HAVE TO know your limits or the animals suffer. You have become the problem you are trying to help. Sadly she seems hellbent on getting the dogs back and if she doesn't she will certainly get more dogs and be more covert about it. This is so tragic all around. I hope she is forced into some serious psychiatric help.

I feel so sad for this woman. This woman has suffered so. This woman lived in horrific conditions and was mentally and physically abused by her own daughter and the fact that the daughter wants the dogs back and hasn’t checked on her mom must truly break her moms heart and you can tell it does. * I wish he didn’t cut her off when she was beginning to tell him about her daughters friends that have just as many dogs that live in similar situations. I also wish he had asked where the daughter sleeps at night… I wonder if she has a different location???

This is a great example of how a lot of backyard animal rescues operate. Having volunteered with rescues and shelters for over 20 years, my advice to people is never, ever drop an animal at a rescue or shelter without first checking it out thoroughly. Too many of them are just hoarding operations.

SHAME ON APRIL for doing this to her mother and those poor helpless dogs. I had an elderly dog and it took ALL of my attention keeping her comfortable. She deserved to be cared for wonderfully after serving my father in law in his last years. This woman abused her mother and then also dozens of animals too 😢😢😢

This woman is very articulate and well spoken....she deserves so much better! April took her mother and those poor dogs and locked them away from anyone seeing what was going on inside. She covered up the windows for a reason....she knew she was doing wrong! I hope that her mom and dogs will have a better life from now on! April should never be in charge of any person or animal as long as she lives!

This case is SO CORRUPT. April was able to get over 60 dogs, mostly special needs. Neglect and abuse them to the point some had exposed bone and many had horrible wounds. And she gets police escorts now but this poor elderly woman does not get any sort of help from chandler police. Whatever is going on will reveal itself at some point. There’s a huge story here.

The Chandler police department need to be investigated and if April is assumed to have friends on the police force than why isn't another police department doing this investigation.. because of course they can't be completely bias. And if this has to go back to court than it should be requested that a judge from a different county should over hear this case and if there is a jury they also should come from a different county. Because honestly at this point who can you trust from Chandler County. April needs to be charged.the world is watching how the justice system is handling this case..

FYI, Chandler is not a county! Obviously you don’t live here, yet you’re making judgments! CPD is not on April‘s payroll! There’s absolutely no proof of that, even the mother said, April did not tell her that! That is something the mother is making up! As for it being a county, Chandler is part of Maricopa County! Well maybe just maybe if they request that a different judge from a different county that hasn't heard anything regarding this case takes over the case and if they request that a different police department be assigned to investigate this case from a different county as well than maybe there is a chance for some real justice.. and if April has all of these aliases than maybe each one of those names should receive the same charges counted against each name.. and maybe if the representation does there job they will correlate the abuse and neglect April is responsible for towards Kathleen as well as the dogs

@@clevermissfox I'm not a lawyer by any means but because she has friends on the police department they can argue the fact that by having the Chandler police department continue the investigation they can't be completely biased with their findings and that it would be in the best interest of Kathleen and the special needs pups effected by her abuse and neglect that they the Chandler police department would not be a fair and honest investigation . Also based on the fact that apparently now there is a lawsuit against the Chandler police department for their wrong doing on their part..so you wouldn't have the same police department guilty of doing wrong conduct the investigation.. further more I got thinking..I had also suggested that they have a judge reassigned to this case that is not familiar with it from another county as well..I'm sure it's only a matter of time before the adult services workers that failed Kathleen will also have a law suit dropped on them. The one of many questions that popped up in my head when Kathleen was talking was how did the adult services workers and the police department not pick up on the horrendous smell coming from the house with their first encounters going there. I mean if they could smell it from the end of the driveway when they came to remove the dogs I can only imagine that it would of been just as strong prior to them removing the dogs.. so why didn't adult services or the police department do something when back when before the day they removed these dogs..
