The only solution to Kashmir that is realistic solution is recognize LOC as permanent borders. There can never be a referendum because of the Indra-Sheikh Accord/Shimla Agreement/Lahore Declaration. The only 2 portions of Kashmir that will go for independence is the Kashmir Valley (Which wiped out a portion of the population) and prehaps Pak Kashmir (Al Jazeera reported 50% of the population wanted independence in 2010). Ladakh and Jammu are firmly Pro India, and Gilgit is Pro Pakistan. The resulting country would be landlocked and surrounded by 3 nuclear countries, having to depend on one of these countries, will irk the other 2. Pakistan will be at disadvantage because its water will be controlled by India, but fortunately India has always honored its water treaty, despite Pakistani agression in Kargil This is seirously the only way the subcontinent will ever see peace. And Maybe one day Pakistan will haev the same realtionship with India, as it does with Bangladesh.
