The amount of people that complained about this videos length and content make me laugh. I'm sure that these are the people that say they study the game, but they don't have the mental capacity or nous to sit for any great length of time to put in the work required to become a better player. You are "starting" at 1/3....Jesus, wish I could have been rich too when I started....I'm just a lowly pleb who had to start online with nickel/dime. The buy in at 1/3 is 300 and you need 40 buy ins "on average" for a safe bankroll. So, you are "starting" your poker experience by investing 12k. Lord almighty, how do I not own this planet.

@@deathmwauthzyx3537 you certainly dont NEED 40 buy ins for a bank roll(keyword need). In fact if he is just a rec player not reliant on poker income he really doesnt have any need for a "bankroll". He should really just focus on tracking his performance and take to the card room what his disposal income allows him to. Online is quite different from live so if he wants to focus on live specifically then 1/3 as a starting point is fine.

@@httrdc8321 If he is just playing for fun, like you are saying, then who cares about anything. You could say "just playing for fun" in response to any advice and it would be fine. If you are serious about trying to do well though, as I'm assuming he would want to be and not just out to "have a good time or something" then the universal recommended amount is 30-40 buy ins. This is not an opinion of mine but of the overwhelming professional poker scene. You will find that written in almost every poker book on the subject and almost every professional asked this question will say between 20-50 buy ins for a bankroll depending on skill and your level of comfort with variance in conjunction with your playstyle, i.e a NIT needs a smaller bankroll than a loose aggressive guy who would take on more variance. But again, if he doesn't care about doing well and just wants to "have a good time" or something, then no advice matters at all so who cares. Probability theory would have us assume he actually cares about doing well until he says or proves to us otherwise.

The very first hand...he asked when does someone donk into a rag turn. Rec players always donk into cards that help them. When he bet at it, I knew he had a 4. Most small stakes rec players do this. (small percentage of the time he has an op or a pp, and fears the flush)

I routinely play at my local casino and it’s 1/2 where half the people button straddle to 5, 300 max buy in but you can match the big stack so there’s routinely 600 dollar stacks, this is the most similar thing I’ve seen on your channel and Bart - it’s the type of thing that will help your channel grow as there’s simply more low stakes players and the players most likely to watch/learn from your channel play low stakes - this video is the type of thing we look for if we’re serious about buying - just because 2/5 and 5/10 strategy seems like it’s irrelevant to us. (Even though it’s not) the perception matters to reach new players and those looking to buy your membership.

I feel about 99.5% confident that I have the best hand in position when my op checks the river like these examples and I can't remember a time it has backfired. The QQ was bad but the 89 was such an opportunity for a bet (probably not getting called but still)....

I had a hand a couple months ago with a board nearly identical to the one in Jake’s hand. I had the wheel with A3 and was out of position. When the 5 came on the turn, I bet, he raised, I re-raised, and he flat called. I placed him on a set. The river brought another 2 to pair the board, worrying me that he got a boat or quad 2’s. We both checked the river and he also had A3.

I know this video is very old given when I'm watching it, but losing players still make the same mistake. When a player, especially at low levels, donk bets a turn...9/10 times that card connected to their hand in some way. Trying to figure out what that connection is will drive you crazy. Just my experience for the first hand in the video.

On the AK vs KK, if AK wouldve reraised preflop, KK probably wouldve three bet and AK would flat call, the with that flop AK probably check, KK bets, AK calls, turn is 5 and AK checks again and KK bets, then AK would fold right? so AK loses? if he had played correctly right?

Great video Bart! 2nd time watching this... Question for you. I have the tendency to bet big on the river if I get lucky with a rag hand... to "save my table image" and not want reveal my hand - So either I get paid off or they fold. What's your take on my approach? For example... A hand like Jake's hand 4,5o vs AK, turning 2pair 4s and 5s. I know Jake just flatted on all streets, but instead of value betting like you might suggest on the river. I personally would bet huge on the river with Jake's hand with the mentality of either getting paid off or protecting your image by forcing AK to fold and muck with no show. Let me know. I never bet to save face. I bet to win money. If you're betting big to keep from showing and he folds, ask yourself would he have called had you bet 1/2 the pot? Maybe hoping his hero call is good. You're losing a ton of profit saving face.

You can actually use showing a bad starting hand to your advantage, because it's deceptive as long as you aren't doing it regularly.

Great training videos bart! I had a question though, in hand#3 where jake has 54, you suggest check raising with hands like this as you pick up lots of equity on the turn. What do you suggest happens when the villain flats your raise, then the turn say for example is a Queen of diamonds or a random brick with no extra equity being picked up? Do you suggest blasting off the turn/ river or would you find your self slowing down as the opponent is most likely to have a king/ legitamate hand to flat your check raise?

I think that you can shut down some of the time continue on other times. You can even break this off by whether or not you pick up equity. So with say 54s on a K24ss board continue with a barrel on a bd spade, 3, 6, 5 or 4. Bart

I think he got maximum value on that 1st hand with the queens by letting Ace 4 off lead out... I feel like Ace 4 would have folded pre flop with any raise more than double his initial raise and if for "some reason' he called... As soon as Q-Q raises the turn then it's almost a snap fold at that point with his kicker problems. This way he kind of "baby trapped" for maximum value although he risked an Ace turning up but... That's the catch with "trapping".

No way would I bet the river as Jake. The caller could easily be trapping. It was the intention of the QJ to trap from the flop. Raising the river as Jake would be wrong 90% of the time. I mean, what combinations could Viet have to peal with, that beat Jake, almost any call to 2 pair K5 on that board beat Jake. It just happens to be that this exact hand QJ is the runner up. So I disagree with Bart. I also think Viet would fold anything over a 50% river bet by Jake on that board.

My opinion is that your criticism on Ace king versus pocket kings is that you're biased! It don't matter who you are when you are watching bets happen with 2 hearts odds of that third heart coming on the river and you feeling like you have the win are super low! Especially if you're a great player ! In my opinion great players have to have the instinct of wanting to play it safe in order to be successful!! That hand in particular is where you and I disagree however the rest of the hands not bad for analysis , but Robert with pocket kings should've been betting harder to buy the pot with kings on a semi bluff versus letting opponent see more cards

he had the king of heart which blocks AKhs, and K9hs so what kinda flush can your opponent have 89hs,78hs,67hs thats it cause he raised preflop and if you'll think 89 of Hearts has a straight flush draw so will definitely wanna build the pot up with that but he just called the flop and the turn so its highly unlikely he has that and remaining are just two Combos of 78 and 67 of hearts but he can occasionally have some hands like A9h or A8h but than again if he raised preflop with those hands he will definitely wanna bet at some point plus you have the nut straight and if you gonna just check the nut straight than what are the hands you gonna value bet with? hence, you should know that you have the best hand and value bet the river without any doubt also it's not a tournament that you have to think about ICM or busting out and shit
