This is adorable. Can't wait for my brother's German shepherd to have babies, I want to take photos of them once a week to watch them grow and to include them in the folder of the adopters because who doesnt want baby photos of their fur baby. Not sure exactly what I want to do for the photos but I think I have an idea. 😊

What lighting setup and lenses did you use? My Cavalier is pregnant and I want to take the pics of her pups and want to ensure I have all the right equipment

Congrats on the new arrivals!❤️ 🐶 I used my 50mm. I would test it out with a stuffy and the lenses you have to make sure you have the right focal length that your looking for. For lights I use one main key light in the center and one rim side light.

What would be the ideal age of the puppy when doing a shoot like these? 5 weeks?

Depending on the dog breed but for sleepy no so wiggly butts 2-4weeks is my preferred time frame.

They are cute. But I'm hesitant to photograph such small puppies. How did the mother react? I tried to photograph two weeks old puppies once when my own bitch had puppies. And she got very stressed, so I stopped pretty much immediately. And that was my own dog. So I would never take studio photos of puppies younger than about 4 weeks.

Hi, yes the safe of the mom and the pups should always be the top priority. If a mom and or the pups show any signs of distress a photography session is not recommended. In my case, I bring my studio to my client's home and park in their driveway so I am always a few steps away from the mom and the pups don't have to go far.

Do you purchase newborn baby cloth wraps? Or have you found a smaller option to wrap them? Also if so, where can I purchase them?

What are your settings typically?

of course that depends on a lot of things... :). I use strobes so my shutter speed is always set at 1/125, and iso 100 , focal length depends on the dept of field i need so btw F10 to F2, during this session i had used my 50mm

Personally, I have a strong passion for photography and capturing those heartwarming moments that pets bring into our lives. My main goal is to spread positivity and celebrate the joy and comfort that animals bring. I believe that through my pictures, I can convey their unique beauty and capture those special moments that make our hearts melt. In this particular video, I wanted to assist fellow pet photographers who are interested in photographing newborn animals in a studio setting. It's a way for me to share my knowledge and help others in their creative endeavours. Now, as for why someone would choose to hire a pet photographer to capture their newborn animals, it's a personal decision that varies from person to person. Some clients find it rewarding and enjoy being part of the artistic process, while others simply want to have a beautiful piece of art featuring their beloved pet(s) that they can proudly display on their walls and cherish every time they see it.
