If you play a split with 2 chips (or any even number of chips), it'd be the same thing as betting a single chip straight up on each number (or distributing your bet completely into straight up bets). It does help the dealer out a bit to calculate straight ups rather than multiple chips on splits. Similarly, betting two chips on a line bet (6 numbers) would be the same as betting a single chip on a street bet (three numbers). Betting two chips on corner is the same as two single splits etc

Doesn’t matter, the payout is according to the odds. Betting 2 chips on a split would be the same total payout as betting straight up on two numbers. You’ll end up with 36 total chips…the payout and your original bet
