WCQ is going through the worst spell of his career. His skills are definitely there and his biggest enemy is himself. He needs to overcome the mental hurdle since losing expectedly to Truls Moregardh in the Paris Olympics.

People may not agree with me but i think it was better that we got Anton instead of Truls here. Not in all aspects, but i think Anton is better at the pace switching from the opponent. And also the switch from forehand to backhand is a little faster and smoother in Källberg's game imo. I think thats the major reason Anton tuck Lin to 5 games at the China smash. But man, Lin's counter attacks is just unmatchable right now, he will be world number one soon no question about it.

disagree. Anton could not make variations to deal with the opponent, and his current style is not good enough yet. Truls would be more creative.

Perhaps the most difficult part of playing LSD is the quality of his counterattacks. You live under the constant threat of knowing that any slightly subpar attack will be returned with a lot of interest. Not dissimilar to players playing against Novak who make a lot more unforced errors because they feel that they have to play much higher quality shots to stay in a point

I remember last year Stone lost to anyone😂. Can‘t say how much he improved this year. And Stone started learning to play with brain instead of just BH. He listened to Wanghao and executed very well. Forehand improved so much in these nonstop two-month tournaments. Maybe he is afraid of high-speed ones with stronger BH only.

Great week from Kallberg, but Lin Shidong needed to prove himself after that 0-4 loss to Felix Lebrun in Montpellier. And he did.

LSD didn't need to prove anything: he has entered the single's final in all tournaments he participated since Olympics and won 5 out of 7. His occasional losses to F.Lebrun and Harimoto, not withstanding, could be due to exhaustion. His high point was beating a resurgent Ma Long 4:3 at the China Smash final, coming from behind 1:3.

For English speakers, I would suggest the approximation "An-ton Shell-bare" (as in "shellfish" and "bare feet"). Don't get confused by the ending "g" (which is rather a soft "j" sound).

An alternative is "Shell-berg" (as in "iceberg") which semantically matches the Swedish word "berg", hence will be understood by an English speaking Swede, but the vowel is off and the "g" is too sharp.

Its not pronounced shallberry in swedish either, not at all. The g in the end is more like the "gh" sound in "fight". Or you could pronounce it with the hard g. But definitely not "berry".

Kallberg is indeed a great top TT player whom anybody has to treat most seriously. So far we still see LSD's skill set perform not as well round as ML, especially at finesse and nuance when dealing with each stroke.

Shell-berg gets you there. The "g" in the end is pronounced like a "j" so Shell-berj. The "e" in berg is more like the first e in "beggar". So pronounce it "fast" Shell-berj. Not like in "burg" as I wrote elsewhere, that would get you off the proper ending.
