Of course, that is reasonable. He did not let his opponent play his tennis. It can be seen that in the first game there was intelligence, and in the second and third games he showed a fighting character and made his opponent nervous, which would turn the tide of the match. Watched this match three times already.

Incredible shot making by Lin throughout this tournament, especially in the semi-finals against Wang Chuqin. Lin has really improved in recent months and added arsenals to his game, especially attack away from the table (which is new because previously he tended to stand very close to the table all the time) and turning from defense to offense on a switch. Congrats to Lin Yun-ju, beating world #2 WCQ and #3 the GOAT Ma Long is no easy feat. He totally deserve this. 💯🙌🙌

I translated what you wrote using google translate. I agree there is clear evidence the worlds individualized talents and techniques are starting to catch and in these few cases surpass the current top players from China BUT.... I have every confidence that Chinese Table Tennis players will emerge to get out of Ma Long's shadow and compete consistantly at the highest level. Wang Chu Ching will be back. Make no mistake about that. The Dark Knight (L.G.) will be right behind him. Fan just needs to go play in the US one time in our MLTT League and have a one month holiday in the US. Well maybe he likes Germany better. But he just needs to see different countries and try different foods. Dude needs a one week Holiday. Once he does that he will get his mojo back and BOOM #1 in the world again. Once the Chinese team admits its an international treasure and has international fans, they will be dominating again. ( Hell yes I want to see a US World Champion but, I love those who are World Champions. Im a fan of the game.) When you have 330 million people playing the game, something good is bound to happen. And as a fan of the GAME I respect those who give there all. Long term CTT is fine, with or without the GOAT. I think its great there is the beginning of unpredictability at the top, but dont think China is just dropping out to #3 or #4 in the world. The Chinese table tennis system has to be slightly adjusted not completely redone.. That is it. Hope you dont mind my "pep talk".

@@walterpoelzing9412 Surely Fan and Wang are gonna come back. Don't forget, however, there are a lot of excellent international players. Many of them are still very young and have bright future. For example, 张本美和,Felix, etc., just to name a few. Even Lin himself is still young and is certainly gonna keep improving. It cannot be certain that Fan and Wang are gonna be best. Even if they will, China has only two. That's far from good enough. Lin and Liang have been there for so long and still far behind Ma, you can hardly expect them to break hugely, especially given they are fast approaching the age for retire. And do you see any other young, good Chinese players except a few, such as Kuai Man and Lin Shi Dong? This is not to say that China is permanently falling. It's highly likely, however, it's gong to take a lot of time, even a decade, for it to recover. If they lack the ability to learn from failures, they are never gonna come back. Thanks for your reply.
Uh why not just leave the politics out of it. If you want to type who beats who each time you will have to type Chinese player wins over Taiwanese players ten times more.

A great match, but again, deuces in so many games, could've gone either way. I always say this whenever we have many deuces because I think this 11 point format has ruined table tennis a bit. 21 point format was way better, it was more decisive. And I am saying this by experience. I have been able to beat players way better than me in 11 point games, while I have lost every single 21 point game against them, 11 point is just not enough to decide the better player. That's why we always play bigger 21 point games locally. That is also why older matches (before 2001) were way too entertaining and much more fair.
@sunblockquestionmark10 ай бұрын
Dude.. it's been like 20 years.. and there were plenty of dueces in 21 as well
@deepbhadja573010 ай бұрын
@sunblockquestionmark rules changed more than 20 years ago, doesn't change the fact that it was the better format. And yes, that means those were actual close matches, not heavily relying on luck. A net/edge point is worth 10% of total points now. Prior, it was just 5.
@KIBICKE9410 ай бұрын
That's why you have best of 7 games... It evens out luck. Anyways, it adds to the drama but the best still manage to remain the best.
@vorlonzevatron714210 ай бұрын
This is true. The reason for changing to 11 points and use bigger ball etc. were all attempts to reduce Chinese dominance.
@sunblockquestionmark10 ай бұрын
@@deepbhadja5730 ... if you assume that net/edge points stay as consistent no matter the point total, there is no reason why the percentage luck would go up. Your argument literally makes no sense. There is no percentage difference in luck due to an increase or decrease number of points in a game... What are you talking about? If you say there are 4 edges/nets in an 11 - 9 game that is 4/20 = 20% of points were determined by "luck" You would assume that that would be constant throughout a set or game. so if it were a 21 point game, won at 21 - 19 you would expect there to still be a 20% edge/net points. About 6 of those points would be 'luck'. So, how would it make a difference?

The whole audience was cheering for Ma Long. Amazing how Lin YJ still managed to stay focused and won the match. BTW, did anyone notice something? Throughout the entire match, Ma returned almost all Lin’s serves by dropping the ball in the forehand small triangle. I understand he intended to restrict Lin’s uses of his killer backhand. However, it was kinda dull and predictable from my point of view, as the element of surprise is advocated in “the Art of War” in order to win a battle.
