From time to time, there were a number of talented foreign TT players who once in a while beat mainland Chinese TT players. Yes, a few were China's exports who became naturalized citizens of foreign countries. Yet, there were other non-Chinese players born and bred in countries outside China. Among countries outside China, the younger generation of top and promising Japanese TT players come closest to challenging traditional Chinese dominance. Liu SW is from the batch that comprised Ding Ning & Li XX, and was given the chance to win the ITTF WS 2019 in which she did despite ranked outside the top 4 in the Chinese selection. By 2022, the youngsters of Sun YS & Wang MY have taken over with only Chen Meng left as a senior player as even Zhu YL has left the int'l scene some yrs earlier. btW, Liu SW was not selected for Olym WS becoz in 2010 she lost to Feng TW in the ITTF WTTC, and in more recent yrs couldn't beat Mimo Ito.
