So far, I have watched 4 games between Ito and Szocs. 3 singles games and one doubles. Ito won them all. I never get tired of watching this video. Artwork by Mima Ito. In this game, Mima was not aware of Szocs

I love Bernie but in this match Mima Ito did what she sometimes does to her opponents. So much dynamic and style in Mima's game!

Why don't Ito's opponents try high, looping topspins against her? Trying to match her in the short hop game is a losing cause. Ito is going to have more trouble with high looping balls because of her lack of stature and her propensity to hit the ball right off the bounce.

I agree, although she can also pivot quickly to take balls with her forehand too

Players these days favour a more direct game and forget that slow spin shots can be effective. A long slow loop is difficult to angle and pips are useless there. The ability to adjust to your opponents abilities sets you apart. Bernie has the wrong person in her corner at time out.....

@@jezzag9739 You see it in tennis as well. While he was active, Federer could go to the net often or play most of the match from the backcourt, depending on which tactic was effective against his opponent..

Not a cup of tea for Bernie. Chinese woman team has such players. In Japan, i think only Hina hayata can play like this. 1

@@pukulu szocs didn't do it here but sun yingsha relied on a tactic involving these shots to beat her in the olympics. She didn't do slow loop to beat mima straight away but to set up for her stronger 5th ball. The coach told Sun YIngsha that she should not aim to end rallies straight away as mima is fast and may counter and go into fast exchange very comftorbly, but to somtimes play slower high spin loops first and build up for opportunity to kill. But high slow loops alone are not going to beat mima, as if she can read them or know you will do them every time she can easily move inside the table and counter them off the bounce, but when and top player mixes it up then it's tough even for mima.
