This is table tennis as an art form. Hashimoto and Sato make mind bending retrievals and deadly transitions from defense to offense. These are two of the best choppers in the world, and you add in their court sense and teamwork it makes for some of the best table tennis you will ever watch. Man that was incredible. You don't get to see such graceful defensive style like that at the highest levels anymore. And to do it with style against the #1 ranked women's doubles pair is really unheard of. These two are a highlight machine.

Sun and wang are not the wr rank number 1

@@cocochocko3783 You are right, but Sun is ranked number one singles player in the world and Wang is number three. So together they would be a formidable pair. However, they were up against the two best choppers/defenders in the world who can also attack and win points.

@@chosett yea I know I was just correcting him but yeah sun and wang are top 2 top players in the world but that would make them the best because both of them are backhand dominant players and on another hand wang yidi face a lot of trouble with chopper like liang jinkun and both yidi and liang are not double material. So I was actually expecting them to lose in some stage.

@Noorlander-ji1ok Oh yes, Sato and Hashimoto are considered veterans of table tennis and have been doubles partners for a a long time. They have beaten the world's best players many times in both doubles and singles, but never selected for the Japanese national team. Right now, I would say they are the number 1 pair in women's doubles in the world.

@@cocochocko3783 It's about time China replaced their women's team coach Ma Lin. I mean, he was one of the world's top players in the past but not a very good coach. Wang Yidi and Chen Meng also lost to the the two Mukherjees of India in the Asian Games. They should train the top Chinese female players on how to play against choppers and anti-spin rubber players. The Chinese male players don't have any problems, why not the women?

Amazing performance. If Sato and Hashimoto keep up that level they’ll win the tournament. The best I’ve ever seen Honoka chan’s attack function. And Hitomi’s desperation lobs when she can’t chop have always impressed me. Ganbare.

I've been following this Japanese pair's progress this year and you know, they have won several doubles titles at WTT tournaments. Even in singles matches, both Hashimoto and Sato have either won or were finalists. In the Star Contender Bangkok 2024, Hashimoto beat Shin Yubin and Jeon Jihee of South Korea and also Miwa Harimoto on her way to the finals where she lost to her countrywoman Mima Ito. Right now, they are the best choppers/defenders in the world who can also attack with deadly force.

我一直在說，中國的削球手太少，以至於我們的選手，都不知道怎樣打削球手了。武楊之後，再無削球手進入中國隊第一梯隊。而日本的削球手非常多，你去看看日本T-聯賽就知道，有多少削球手啊，才六個隊，就至少有十來個削球手。在中國大概已經找不到，削球手組合的雙打選手了吧？那還怎麼練？碰到日本這對最強削球組合，輸是大概率，贏則實屬僥倖。

14:00辺り　choppersの巧みさが花開く。見事な弧を描いて。遠隔からのスマッシュも。ミキハウスの平野さやかさんのつながりで佐藤は単で優勝している。ダブルスでも孫頴莎チームを翻弄させている。圧倒的，これほどのフットワーク律動はないだろう。切れた深いロング返球，巧みなサーブからの攻勢，すべて歯車が合って負ける気がしない。

名勝負。佐藤選手がサーブ，返球を橋本選手がドライブし空振りする。橋本がサーブで佐藤がスマッシュ。二度効いている。嗤う余裕さえ。ココで勝てると思わせます。ところが決勝(韓国組戦）では同じパターンで佐藤サーブ，橋本空振りが見られた。簡単には取らせてくれない。相手次第で臨機応変。この勝負はダブルスコンビ力発揮でしょう。山場でした。感動です。

The Japanese choppers are the dark horse here and team China is totally clueless about how to play them. Are we looking at potential number one in the Japanese pair? Chinese players do not like to play against choppers and they often struggle. The rest of the world led by the Japanese are leading the charge to topple the Chinese. Sasoki Odo and Harimoto Miwa are the biggest threats to team China and when the old guards like Sun, Chen meng and Wang Munyu retire, not a single Chinese of the next generation is anywhere close to the levels of Odo and Harimoto.
