Xiang Peng had beaten Moregard twice before, 4:0 at youth championship, 3:0 at china super league.

If not given the Wildcards, Xiang Peng would Not be able to play in this tournament. Neither would Zhou Qihao. Thanks to WTT to give young talent or lesser known players the opportunity to let TT fans know what they are capable of.

They should allow more than 6 players a country in the first place. Zhou Qihao and Xiang Peng deserve to play in every smash event. They are Top 10-20 players

Xiang Peng is such a boon for this tournament, Zhou Qihao actually appeared in several international tournaments before back at 2020 iirc

@@Puregold24karat zhou qihao was very high on the tour, until 2021 when injured. He would easily be top20 in the world had there be no country restrictions. He would probably be top10 if he was never injured.

But isn't this why they restrict the number of players from China in the first place? Even the substitute players on the Chinese team is too strong on average against foreign players. If you restrict how many can compete, then maybe a few foreign players can get through to a final. Look what happened at the China Smash when more Chinese players are in the draw. EVERY final was China vs China. In fact all 4 semi-finals in men and women single was also China vs China, and 3 of the 4 teams in all 3 doubles tournaments were Chinese. That's probably why they restrict the number of Chinese players. In other smash events, if a couple of Chinese players lose early, then maybe some European or Japanese player can make a deep run. But in China Smash, even though WCQ on the men's side and Wang Yidi on the women's side crashed out early, it didn't matter because whoever managed to beat them were soon beaten by the other Chinese players in the draw. They don't want every top level event to only have China vs China finals, which is why they restrict.

I never imagined Truls Moregard could hang with Xiang Peng since Xiang obliterated Truls 4-0 last they met. Impressive improvement from Truls.

Again a spectaculare match for Möregård. Fang deserved the game but so did Möregård. Was a "dance at the vulcans edge" and it was exciting until last set and Fang's convincing lead. Congrats to both athleats

@@dazstuff1875 WCQ runs hot and cold despite his number 1 ranking, so on any given day a Truls or Anders might beat him. But can Truls beat 2 or 3 Chinese players IN A ROW? Say he squeaked out a win against Xiang here, next up would be Lin, and then the Dragon himself in the Finals. Good luck with that.

Оба показали высший класс, но к моему сожалению, Трулсу немного нехватило стабильности, в пятом сете допустил много ошибок, но в целом, сыграл великолепно, как всегда со своими коронками, на 33:20 и 34:00, просто космос!
