It was always so cool how Greed was the sin that was able to develop a true friendship, above all the other homunculi, simply because he *wanted* friends. Any other anime wouldn’t have even made that connection, they would have just been like “They’re your friends, of course you care”, but no, FMAB is like “You’re the embodiment of greed! You want everything! So of course you want friends!”

Tbh it kinda bothers me that people always think that Greed remembering his friends was Ling fighting back. I mean sure Ling commented on it but Greed was in pain because he started remembering what had happened in Dobleth, not because Ling was necessarily fighting back (this is also proven next episode)

Ling actually wasn't fighting back in that moment. Greed was in pain because a part of him unconsciously realized what he just did. Ling just pointed it out and the truth hit him hard. It's why at the end there, you see Greed screaming in anguish and agony as he held Bido.

I don't think Ling was "fighting back", while he IS waiting for a chance to take over, that's how he truly feels. Greed was having flashbacks of his past life and felt intense remorse.
