FULL MOTO! Two-Stroke Classic! Kevin Windham & Ricky Carmichael | 2001 Washougal 250 Moto 1

By this point in 2001, everyone knew Ricky Carmichael was moving from Team Kawasaki, where he had spent his entire pro career, to join Team Honda team for the 2002 season. Ricky still had much to prove on the Kawasaki as he tried to wrap up the 2001 AMA Pro Motocross Championship.
Down but not out, Kevin Windham was still making gains on his Suzuki, and at Washougal, one of his best tracks, he had the stuff to beat RC. That's not something many people were able to to do! Enjoy an awesome wheel-to-wheel battle between RC and KDub in the Pacific Northwest!

When Kevin was on, nobody could touch him. Wish he could have brought out the magic more often. Always enjoyed watching him ride. Another guy who was good for jaw dropping rides was Robbie Reynard. I wish I could find the video, he crashed in the first corner at Southwick, got up and proceeded to carve his way to the front of the pack. The broadcasters didn't know what to do when he suddenly appeared in the top 5 at the end of the moto. The cameras were focused on the leaders coming out of an section with a bunch of trees and before the shot cut away, Reynard appeared out of nowhere, looking like he had found an extra 20 horsepower and an extra gear on his 125. I miss those days.

Ricky always hated this place. I remember watching in person, it’s always so wild looking back at the few times that Ricky got hunted down and passed, especially outdoors.
