Way better script than the crappy movie, that was uploaded here some time ago (already forgot the title) - although the absolutely clean (supposedly velum) scroll (no blood stains) was a bit cringeworthy. 😂 THX again for your work.

That is the way the clan dresses at that time in the 16 century.

The long "trousers" were required wear in Edo Castle (Where the Tokugawa family resided. There were 15 Tokugawa Shoguns from 1603 to the Meiji Restoration in 1868.). Because the long length impeded free movement, it was a means of discouraging any fighting in the castle. Another rule that was severely imposed in Edo Castle, was the one that stated no sword could be unsheathed while in the castle, upon penalty of death - this rule was imposed on Lord Asano Naganori, when he used his sword to attack the arrogant, corrupt, and greedy Lord Kira Yoshinaka. Lord Asano was ordered to commit seppuku, which eventually led to the long-planned revenge by 47 former retainers, subsequently called ronin because of the passing of their liege lord.

A koku is the monetary equivalent to the amount of rice needed to feed a person for a year. The more koku a clan receives (or is worth), the more retainers they can support....
