For clarification Dara ,CL and Minzy didn’t do surgery the only one who did is Bom . This song is inspired written by CL coz of YG who did call them ugly and the Korean netizen back then are harsh towards them coz their different from other Girl group before.

@@joi_lenerai7990 Firstly I'm a Blackjack from 09. Secondly CL is my bias and I would never degrade her or any of the other members. Thirdly CL did NOT write this song. It was Teddy Park and Kush. Lastly, Minzy has had a nose job. She confirmed it. You can see the difference in the 2015 MAMA and compare it to before. She had it done during their hiatus in 2014.

CL didn’t write this song, all the credentials literally go to teddy if you search up the song HOWEVER- I did read somewhere that Teddy wrote it because CL came to him one day and vented about how she couldn’t understand why Korea was so focused on 2NE1’s looks rather than talents, so she pretty much inspired him to write the song. Hope that helps clear up things :) Edit: Lydia Paek helped Teddy compose the song and Minzy did have surgery on her nose in 2013/2014, which there is nothing wrong with :)

I don't know if anyone told you, but CL got the inspiration for the song cause her boss YG and netizens said she was ugly constantly. And it was bothering her (she had been crying). YG pressured her to get plastic surgery(she was like 17) but she refused. Out of all the girls she's the only one who didn't. I'm gald she didn't she blossomed naturally. And she learned how to do makeup that works for her.

You really made great points on this especially about toxic positivity. The rock beat turns this song like an anthem for all the uglies (i.e. all of us), coz most of us relate to this feeling of being ugly. YG reportly commented on how ugly the girls were when he saw them in a dance practice without makeup. There were very much viewed as ugly by the label. heck Black pink was partly the result of YG looking for a pretty 2NE1

You see, many who love hard rock and metal also enjoy K-Pop. I'm one of them. 2ne1 (Too any One) are the queens of K-Pop, there wouldn't be Blackpink and the likes if there weren't 2ne1, BigBand, Exo, SNSD (Girl's Generation) and BED (Brown Eyed Girls, who were more on the edgy sexual side). You are right about the meaning of the song, they made it because the netizens were commenting they are ugly. I always found them beautiful, but we all know K-pop fans (from everywhere not just Korea) are very toxic bunch, more than some streamers and gamers toxic community combined. They are from same agency where BigBand and Psy were - YGE. I know many recommend some other songs, but I personally love their farewell song - Goodbye. It is a great bittersweet song. You should check KDA - League of Legends animated K-Pop group and AleXa, she sings, raps, dances, acts, does her own stunts and the videos are like action sci-fi storyline movies.

If you don’t live in Korea you probably don’t know they’re so closed minded when it come to standard beauty. I’m talking about u have to born with their standard shape of face and body, you eyes are big and your nose is long... 2ne1 come out like a group that break the norm of KPOP. ( Korea standard beauty is like if you’re a 10/10 in U.S in their country you probably just below 7 )
