Over the Magic Kingdom for New Year's Eve 2013, Walt Disney World displayed the Fantasy in the Sky fireworks along with a special countdown finale to 2014. This video was shot on the evening of Dec. 30, 2013, as Disney performs this massive show that night as well as Dec. 31st. The video was recorded from the new California Grill viewing platform atop the Contemporary Resort.

The fireworks were AMAZING! This doesn't even do them justice. They were so bright at one point that it looked like daytime, probably the best fireworks I have ever seen in person.

I proposed to my wife a few hours before this very show over by the bridge from the Castle area to Liberty Square. Thank you for posting this video. We experienced these fireworks from inside the park in the area between the Circus area and Tomorrowland Raceway. I heard people saying there were 90,000+ people in the park.

This is def on my bucket list: a California Grill reservation for midnight at new years eve! Probably the very hardest reservation to get anywhere in WDW!

When my family went to this in 2011 into 2012, we had to get there and get our spot by 6. It was 6 hours worth of waiting, but very much worth it! I wanna share this experience with all my friends and family within the next 2-3 years

We were there, behind the castle in the New Fantasyland area. That night was the most fun I've ever had at Walt Disney World, and I've gone many, many times. One giant party. They replace all the usual music loops with a great playlist of rock with a DJ broadcasting from in front of the castle. Magic! Don't let anyone tell you it's too crowded. So many people were jammed into Main Street waiting for the 8:30 and later the midnight fireworks that the rest of the park was fine. Short lines everywhere.

We were there, too. I proposed to my wife that night. I remember all the lines were short as could be before the fireworks. We rode The Little Mermaid three times in a row without getting off because there was no one else waiting.

Awesome fireworks to celebrate the 2014 I was this at Walt Disney World last year n 2013 in August to celebrate my 30th Birthday I had a magical time with my family and my friends I will never forget the 2013 year I had a dream to be a Disney Character at Walt Disney World and also I had dream competing in the Disney Half marathon Happy New Year to all and I love you'll Disney Fan I will always be a huge Disney Fan and I'm hoping to keep coming to Walt Disney World in rest of my life and I also had a dream of getting married at Walt Disney World at Magic Kingdom

Hi, I am from Sydney Australia and my family and I are planing on going to Magic Kingdom (for our first time) to watch the NYE fireworks on the 30th Dec (researching on the internet I also found out they do a trial run on the 30th..).. Do you mind if I ask you a couple of questions? What time did you have a dinner reservation for at the California Grill? And what time did the fireworks start? Is it at midnight like the NYE fireworks? Now starting to think we may have to visit MK during the day and finish the night off at the California Grill for dinner and a wonderful fireworks display :)

Im going there for New Years as well!! Some things you should consider is that if you are planning to eat at the California grill on the 30th it will extremely expensive just to eat on the balcony. I'm talking about $ 500-1000 US dollars per person just to eat there. They do however have a guest balcony for guest staying at the bay lake tower or contemporary resort. Another thing is that the parks tend to fill to capacity at around 10:30 am US eastern time which will no longer except people in the park even if you have tickets. Disney states that if you have a ticket and staying on site you are not guaranteed to enter the park of your choice but will enter a park that is not reached its capacity such as animal kingdom or Hollywood studios. If you do decide to enter the park you should enter and stay there because if you leave you may not renter if park has reached capacity! It may seem fun and exciting to watch from there but I would suggest you go inside the park and eat at the snack stands or at other small restaurants in the park!! Sorry forgot to mention there are 2 fireworks displays on the 30th and the 31st. The first one beginning at 8:00pm us eastern time which is known as holiday wishes and another show at 11:50 pm us eastern time which is known as the Fantasy in the sky which is the New Year's Eve celebration!! MetLife Gaming Thank you SO much for all your advice :) I think we might have to give the California Grill a miss :( if it was just the two of us I would pay that.. but there will be the 4 of us (my husband & I and our two kids)... We are staying at the Port of Orleans Riverside... We plan to go to MK for 30th (to watch the trial NYE firework display) and Hollywood Studios for the 31st (as I have read reviews that it isn't as busy - is this true?). Do you think we still need to be at MK on the 30th by 10:30am???

Sorry for getting back to you late.. Hollywood studios will be packed but not as much as Epcot or MK.. And yes the parks tend to fill to capacity throughout the week of Christmas into the new year at around that time.
