Most civil rights attorneys are not as known as Mr. Crump and few of us are on television as much, but we are still fighting in the trenches regardless if the public ever learns of our work.

When I was in the Harris county jail around 27 years ago I had seen sheriff deputies punch a white guy dead in the chest just for smiling when we were standing in a straight line. Dude could barely breath as he fell to the ground and they gave him 10 seconds to get back up in line or else he’d get more. They huge deputies and very intimidating. They also mocked a transgender prostitute as they made fun of him when they made him strip for a search. All this while we were being processed in. Worst weekend in my life being in there all for driving with a suspended license at 19. Never again I take my license for granted.
