Y'all probably already know this but "The One" has a pretty slippery floor so you might want to see how your sleeping pad reacts so you're not surprised by it out on the trail.
@michaelb17612 жыл бұрын
When I seam sealed my SMD Skyscape Trekker, I used the leftover silicon sealant to paint stripes on the floor. Works well for providing some tackiness to the floor to grip the sleeping pad.

Burp Cloths > Bandanas. Absorb a lot more moisture and dry faster. Wash, dry and fluff up that quilt ✨
@dustyc3242 жыл бұрын
bandana usually suck at absorption. I'm gonna keep burp cloth in mind. golf towel usually has a clip or a hole with a grommet. maybe one of those would be nice. also easy to attach to the outside of the pack. hmmm

Love Flossy! My feedback on the new version of GG Trekking poles (my previous pair lasted 6 plus years): My second trip was out in the Gila Wilderness along part of the CDT and one pole completely snapped and splintered. The trail was pretty average, slight rocky, but not what you'd see heading up to a pass or anything as bad as that. It was the lower section that busted. I decided next time, I'm not going to telescope those bottom sections all the way to "stop" like I usually do, and telescope the middle section, which is a little wider, out longer to compensate for the length. I don't know if this will add any strength to the pole or not. Honestly, I lost confidence in them and am not as likely to use them on tougher hikes here in CO because I need a reliable pole for my tarp set up and getting through trails on the CT. Good luck with yours. Have some back up trekking poles ready. I just don't feel like the quality is there with this newer versions. A thought regarding your HG quilt.....sometimes the dirt and oils from using it will begin making the down feathers stick together and lose loft, therefore losing warmth. Washing it will help and restore warmth and make it like new again. Good luck and have a super successful trip out there!

You get couple of strip of KT tape. It saved me when I tweaked my ankle. San Jacinto Mtn has flying bitey bugs. I hope you treated your things with permethrin. I hope you guys are planning to get to California early before starting. The weather here is way different so get yourselves a little time to acclimate. Get ready to use rocks when pitching tent here. Some areas will be too rocky.

We definitely have ticks here on the west coast but as a buddy of mine from Connecticut so elegantly put it, the ticks over here are "like great big puppy dogs". They are huge and have a tendency to just cuddle up with you rather than burrow in right away. I pulled 3 off my pants yesterday one out of my belly button.

@globaldouglas63752 жыл бұрын
After almost 5,000 miles (and still using my original Leki poles, except for one pole replacement on first AT thru-hike) I can't imagine removing the straps. I find them particularly useful on steeper elevation changes (esp. descents) and/or when I'm pushing it to my limit. Plus the straps are great for hanging the poles in shelters when not in use.

Flossy have you ever cheated on Kyle and watched a Dan Becker video on trail for “advice”?
