I just wish to add to the wealth of thanks being sent your way for letting us (hopefully!) see this fabulous series. Really, I have loved sports car racing since the early 'Sixties and to have this sort of in -depth coverage is just wonderful. Thank you so much for this. If only we had this decades ago! Any historic footage would be gratefully received too by the way! But... just thanks, so much! Looking forward to Le Mans, the Great (French) Race massively, as always.

Hello FIA WEC, I have just recieved two copyright strikes from your channel on my videos. One video features footage from the TV broadcast of the WEC 6 hours of Silverstone, to which you fully owe the rights. Therefore I understand the reasoning behind the strike. However, the second video exclusively features my own amateur footage from the WEC 6 hours of Spa-Francorchamps. All of the footage from this video was recorded trackside as a spectator by me. Therefore I do not understand why it has recieved a strike. I see that no other videos featuring amateur footage have not been claimed, so why has mine been claimed? Please remove the strike on my video "CLOSE CALLS + ACTION! WEC at Spa-Francorchamps". Yours sincerely Der Hausmeister

Commentary is amazing. English not so much as a foreign language but as a totally alien concept. Come back Radio Le-Mans ,although I often felt the need for sub-titles. Sad not to have Doctor Ullrich in pit lane. I miss the corvettes too. More is the pity the malign hand of the FIA is present, I worry for the series with the ghastly Jean Todt in control. Well done Toyota on the win and the No7 rebuild was worthy of Audi.

well, on the one hand McNish will give us a huge chunk of his knowledge over time, phantastic pro. and in fact, he's a surprisingly good commentator.; on the other hand, while he's sure a nice guy i have to say the maincommentator delivers nothing WEC-worthy, and the pit-chick (while sure nice..) is completely the wrong choice, sadly emberassing ö_Ö #first lady Shae

Question for the WEC what happened to Audi?
@armorgeddon7 жыл бұрын
They betrayed the customers of their Diesel cars and because of that decided it wouldn't fit their marketing if they kept racing Diesel cars.

Sidd Kumar becuase of the Volkswagen Dieselgate scandal it didn't make sense for the Volkswagen Group to race diesel cars, so Audi pulled out at the end of 2016

If you are going to upload the entire race 1 or 2 weeks after live broadcast, then do live broadcast free of charge.

If it makes sense for IMSA, it make sense for FIA too.

Problem with the official pay stream is that it's also low framerate, often fails, can only be paid with a credit card, etc..
@madmac667 жыл бұрын
Shut up or pay up
@Ewane5 жыл бұрын
Kaya Çorak no because the series has to get money. Also, most people want to watch it live and will pay for it, whilst very little will pay to watch a race 2 weeks after it takes places. Therefore, the ability to gain new fans is more than the potential income for uploading a couple of weeks later.
@Ewane5 жыл бұрын
Kaya Çorak doesn't work like that. People and TV companies are interested in WEC from all around the world, whilst IMSA would struggle to find a TV deal anywhere other than the USA (maybe Canada could also make a viable deal). IMSA gains more interest and fans from people globally by streaming it free, as many of these people wouldn't be willing to pay for coverage.

bring back group c and while you are at do away with air restictors and b op for all classes and encerige srt and dodge to bring in the hellcat chalinger and tomahawk prtotype and get corvett to join as well that is the only car missing on the grid for all gt raceing including spa and batherst
@madmac667 жыл бұрын
Tyler Malic the hellcat is a muscle car, not a sports car or a GT car. It can’t go around corners, only fit for drag racing
@Ewane5 жыл бұрын
Tyler Malic Group C cars are not appropriate for now, factory teams would not be interested. Removing BoP would remove all factory teams from GT racing as well. Your suggestions would kill off the series.

worthless podium placing.....its a joke that the race is dominated by LMP1 while the other class only gets a participation trophy in the form of class winner....
@Maenfy4 жыл бұрын
What else are they supposed to get? Obviously the overall winners get the most attention, winning in class is still honoured highly.
@csonkaperdido4 жыл бұрын
You clearly don't know anything about WEC or endurance racing. The LMP1 cars are supposed to be the fastest - they have 1,000hp and the most downforce. LMP1 class is also meant for the manufacturers - which is why it's Porsche vs Toyota - and Porsche and Toyota actually build their own cars. They are almost completely different cars. They just look similar. Porsche has a 2.0L turbocharged V-4 engine (yes a V-4, not a flat-4 or inline-4)...plus a 500hp electric KERS hybrid system that drives the front wheels. The V-4 engine drives only the rear wheels. Also - A V-4 is a totally unique engine that literally no other car in the world currently uses. No road cars or racing cars besides Porsche used a V-4 engine. Toyota uses a 2.6L twin-turbocharged V-6 engine driving the rear wheels, plus a 500hp KERS electric hybrid system that drives the front wheels. Therefore the LMP1 cars are 4 wheel drive when they deploy the hybrid boost, and 2 wheel drive when they are not using the electric hybrid boost. LMP2 cars have "only" 600hp and slightly less downforce. The LMP2 class is not meant for auto manufacturers, that's why they use different chassis like Oreca, Dallara, Ligier etc. Those companies do not sell cars for road use... All LMP2 cars use a naturally aspirated Gibson 4.2L V-8 engine and all engines are identical. The LMP2 class is meant for private racing teams, that's why they are not referred to by the chassis type but the racing team that owns them. G-Drive, Valliante Rebellion, etc are the racing teams which own and operate the cars. GT cars are just that... GT cars. As in Grand Touring cars. This series is meant for both manufacturer teams in the GTE-Pro division, such as Ford, Porsche, Aston Martin and Ferrari. The GTE-Pro cars have full manufacturer support. The GTE-Am (for "Amateur) division has limited manufacturer support and is meant for anyone who has enough money to buy a race car, and has the skill to drive it. That's why the GTE-Am cars are referred to by the name of the team that owns and operates the car... Much like the LMP2 cars. Grand Touring is a step above "regular" Touring cars like the WTCC (World Touring Car Championship) and GT cars are cars that you can buy and drive on the road - they are obviously faster than the road car version, and are lighter than the road car version. The other classes don't get "participation trophies"... They have their own seperate World Championship classifications and prize money. So that should explain things to you, and now you should understand why the LMP1 cars are typically the top 3 cars in the race and usually get the overall race win. The LMP2, and both GTE classes each get their own podium and podium ceremony. The don't just get "participation trophies" as you naively suggested. Next time you decide to make a stupid comment about something you don't know anything about - try learning something about it first. Then you won't make stupid comments about it.
