The more I listen to this album, the more I like it. Unlike most other albums I think I'm going to keep coming back to this one for a long time. I do feel that the transitions and song order could've been better handled

Me too. I’ll be honest, I didn’t like it at first because I kept comparing it to their older stuff but I was wrong. Their new sound is very dope! 🔥

It’s way too early into the lifecycle of Paradise Again, but back in ‘01 when Daft Punk released “Discovery” they received a ton of hate and criticism because it was completely different from their previous album “Homework” and just look at how high of regard we hold that Discovery album to this date over 20 years later. I get the same type of vibe from this album. It is very very well produced, still is primarily house, but also very different from all of their previous singles and their “Until Now” compilation album. I have a feeling this is an album we will still be listening to in 20 years.

“Mafia” is actually a sample from the movie Irréversible by Gaspar Noé. Very dark and haunting movie which depicts the events of a night in Paris as two men attempt to avenge the brutal rape and beating of the woman they love all while the whole plot is shown in reverse. They did a great job on that track tbh. Anyways, the more I have listened to this album the more I like it. Great review :)

@@producermathew I’m sorry, but what exactly did you expect from your half-assed research attempt when skimming through the movie? 😅 Listen to “Rectum” by Thomas Bangalter which is a soundtrack featured in the movie.

I think if you heard "Can you feel it" in the nightclub setting, you would understand. :D Edit: Also, I had mixed feelings at the beggining about a lots of tracks, but most of them grew on me. Especially the ones with nostalgic house vibes, as that's really the vibe I like in general. But, I agree that setlist is a bit weird, and they could have arranged it a bit better.

Just my opinion, I'm a boy who lives in early 2010s and not really a trance or experimental addict. I love their old tracks which are amazingly uplifting, so this is a bit disappointing. Another thing is that the ordering of this LP is quite strange, I mean, I love both Home and It Gets Better, but I'm sorry that I feel my emotion switches way too fast... I do enjoy tracks lining after Paradise Again. I know they worked really hard on this project and still thanks Swedish House Mafia for bringing this LP. Also, thanks Bowtied Media, I absolutely enjoy this video!

The kings of electronic music are back! ⚫⚫⚫ Here are my rankings of the songs on the new album and my thoughts: 1. Moth To A Flame - The dark atmosphere, signature SHM chordy breakdowns, and euphoric vocals from The Weeknd make this not only my standout favorite song on the album, but one of my favorite releases in the past several years. This song will go down as a classic. 2. Can U Feel It - The energy in this song is unmatched on the rest of the album, although Redlight comes close. The album needed at least one Greyhound-esque banger, and this song definitely delivered. My only wish is that the song would've included a post-build-up climax and/or drop; the song feels like a constant build-up to more build-ups. 3. Redlight - Another high-energy banger, this track is similar to CUFI but with a subtler build-up accompanied by intense-sounding Sting vocals and an actual drop. This song is what IGB (the official version, not the Stockholm version, which in my opinion is leagues better) should've been. 4. Calling On - This song is the same type of satisfying as a good deadmau5 song (which is most deadmau5 songs). It's the type of song that'll put you in a trance, and the air will feel empty once the song is over. 5. Lifetime - This track carries the same dark atmosphere as MTAF, but with a slower, summery tempo and ominous, echoing vocals from Ty Dolla $ign and 070 Shake. I typically prefer the 125-130 BPM range, but SHM managed to sneak a downtempo song into my playlist. 6. It Gets Better - Similar to Redlight, but with a more minimal, cowbell drop, which in my opinion needs more going on in order to maintain the energy of the rest of the track, similarly to the drop from the incredible classic Animals by Martin Garrix. 7. Heaven Takes You Home - Similar to MTAF but with a light atmosphere, this song never fails to brighten my mood. 8. Time - This one is similar to Calling On, but doesn't quite match its emotional sound. 9. Frankenstein - I love this as a hip-hop track, but I don't think it fits well in the tracklist of this album, and while I am a hip-hop fan, I'm an EDM fan first. 10. Don't Go Mad - While this song has a nice chord progression and overall structure, there's too much going on all at the same time for my tastes. 11. Paradise Again - This one has a fantastic sound, and had so much potential, but I felt like it fizzled out before it could go anywhere incredible. 12. Another Minute - This song sounds amazing, and just like Paradise Again, it had so much potential, but it fizzled out. 13. Jacob's Note - It isn't fair to judge this on the same level as the other songs, because it's an interlude, and an amazing one at that. The way it blends into MTAF is amazing. 14. 19.30 - Too minimal and industrial for my tastes. 15. Mafia - Like 19.30, but slightly worse, in my opinion. Not my style. Too harsh, and more of a hip-hop beat than an EDM song. 16. For You - Good, but too minimal for me. 17. Home - Too minimal for my tastes. This one sounds more like an R&B beat than an EDM song, in my opinion. This my favorite album of the year so far. In fact, it's my favorite in a few years. I was disappointed at first, but it grew on me with every listen. The sequencing is great. Swedish House Mafia are legends!

I also feel like it's a mixed bag. Some great stuff at the beginning, but in the middle it's going nowhere. It's not cohesive (lol at 10:48, exactly my thoughts at first) and doesn't build up to a momentum. I also feel like Don't Go Mad with Seinabo Sey is a bit of a wasted opportunity. Seinabo Sey is probably one of Sweden's best female singers and she only sings a few words on this track. I think they could have used her vocals for something better than that. Frankstein really feels out of place and I honestly didn't like it a single bit. My favorite tracks are the softer songs on the album: Time, Heaven Takes You Home, Moth To A Flame, Calling On. Some of the songs really sound like ODESZA, like Calling On. Most songs on the album are definitely not as instant as their older tracks. When I was a student in Sweden, we really danced our asses off on songs like Don't You Worry Child, One, Save The World, and Miami 2 Ibiza.
