The early access roadmap is out! There's also an update to Xenonauts 2 development plans. In this video, we take a closer look at what we can expect until the full version of the game. There's still a lot to be added and many more things to be changed.

I'll tell you what I want on the roadmap-I wanna eventually see pilots in the cockpit of the dropship, sitting there in those seats with a few basic animations which help indicate that they're monitoring everything & are ready to take off at a moment's notice It just seems like such an easy thing to do that would make a much bigger impact on immersion compared to the presumably tiny amount of time it would take to add them to the otherwise-empty chairs in the dropship models Also idk what everybody's so worked up about in terms of friendly AI Like what's the issue with the occasional civilian running straight into the front door of a crashed UFO-some people are just really stupid Just add like a selfie stick & a smartphone to their model-now it's an instagram influencer looking to get more clicks & views, problem solved

The good thing about the timed missions is it really doesn't matter if you don't succeed. Just pull out and evacuate. People are way too set on 'winning' every encounter. If you can't succeed at the timed missions and you really need to then just lower the difficulty. You might not be a good enough player yet. I played it on the normal setting and the two timed missions I've seen, I managed to succeed without losing anyone. They aren't that hard, because I know I'm not that great at the game.

If Xenonaughts is anything like original X-COM, then failing any mission is horrible. It doesn't take many failed missions to fuck your score and trash your funding. It was absolutely imperative to win as many missions as possible in X-COM, especially Terror missions. One failed Terror mission can tank your monthly score. It wont lose you the game, but it could cost a lot of funding, possible countries abandoning you, and if a player can't manage several months in a row, its a giant snowball and can lead to game-loss in very short order. Xenonaughts doesn't do things entirely the same, but it follows the same basic formula. Failing missions = very bad. That is why players want to win every mission possible. Its literally core-mechanics.

@@DarkAshenfall yeah but on easier difficulty, the game isn't that hard. I think I've lost a single soldier and it was due to a grenade throw going wrong and blasting my own dude and all his cover. If the games too hard for you, just lower the difficulty until your better at the game. That's why we have difficulty settings.

They need more devs, That's alot of work to add even more stuff and reworks to the game while readjusting and bug fixing stuff at the same time. I don't get the whiners about load times, optimization pretty much last thing that will happen, if it was a full release then yeah, it's a bit annoying. but not game breaking. Just very impatient people. Gotta have everything now or 30 seconds ago!!! Get real ! I wanted your complaing about it yesterday !!

If anyone has been following the monthly development updates then they will have realised by now that Goldhawk Interactive is quite a small team and that while they had some greater ambitions for X2, it has turned out to be an updated and slightly modified version of X1. For some that is disappointing but I am OK with it; if they change the game too much then it stops becoming what I enjoy about it. Plus it is no small thing to have brought the game into an entirely new 3D engine and recreated everything from scratch. The timed missions are fairly infrequent and I personally enjoy having to change up my usual take it slow and carefully strategy so that I can rescue those civilians (even if they are suicidally insane once released...) I also don't think there is any hope they will get their roadmap done in nine months but, again, I am OK with that. Maybe I am just easily pleased...

Weapon modes- aiming devices, heattermal scopes, NVG - could greatly benefit night missions, flashligths o different lumen power. laserpointers, scanners. recce drones. Underground maps _sewers, bunkers, abandoned military bases, submarine base captured - aliens trying to meltdown the reactor Cleaners vs aliens clash missions during which Xenonauts would need to extract someone or plants something Underwater research facilities? Global politics having more affect on the game Global inventions maybe based on recovered alien tech (tech lost in the missions, recovered by locals, leads to appearance of cults, secret labs) Crossbreed mutants enemies - as a result of cultist working with aliens. Alien propoganda. Global transcontinental corporations appear and trying to get their share from the aliens. maybe trying to negotiate with equal % of success or major fubar After some reasearch level - there is not enough brain power of engineers . need to build DataCenters outside your bases (with % probability to be discovered by prepers, cultist, corporate spies) Enemy datacenters to extract info or plant a virus Datacenters lead to invention of AI - probability of going nuts

One simple thing that I would personally like is some way of easily predicting whether you’ll end up with a daytime or nighttime mission. It could either be automatically calculated and built into the drop ship launch window, or at least they could add some vertical “hour zone” lines to the geoscape to help the player “guesstimating”.

I like whats there. Fun and engaging. Enough freedom to experiment. Needs more different aliens though.

Anyone else running into a problem where there are no cleaner mission (with exception of data mission and port mission)? I started my second run and only get to fight alien

I think I'm on like day 210 in my first run & I've only run into a handful of cleaner missions-the first data stealing mission, the capture/kill VIP ones at the regional Cleaner offices, & the main Cleaner HQ mission-but I didn't follow development closely over the years so I don't know if they promised more or anything

I've only gotten the three mainline missions. Itd suck if they don't have tactical missions and only increase panic.

I've suggested several times on their discord to stop putting out so many patches. They must be wasting so much time testing and releasing all these mini patch releases. They should be focused on regular communication and monthly patches.

This plan seems a bit thin. It doesn't look like we'll reach a final version from here, but it's at least moving forward. The game still feels quite bare. It needs a lot more content - like, five times more than what we have now, both in terms of things to do and gameplay features.

I wish they would change the air combat. I hate it and the controls are ridiculous. I hated it in the first game, too. I know it's simulating the original UFO games but the 2D combat is the weakest part of the game IMO.

It's kinda embarassing that all they have is half of a Xenonauts 1.5 after all these years. I like the first game well enough don't get me wrong but I was expecting a full release by now.

They clearly had some huge problems during the pandemic period. I think they lost some people of the team (home office made much easier to hire abroad) or something like that because their speed dropped massively

Issue is with the current system where each projectile apth is simulated, you cannto do that period. Because you would be invulnerable behind a corner.

4:10 I have no problem with the less than a minute Loading Time. But on the forums, you have whiners crying about Many Minutes? Then they look at all the Apps they got running in the background, that are causing the Slow Loads, and eyes pop out of their heads. 😂😂🤣

My computer takes nearly a minute to load the Geoscape, even though there's nothing else running in the background. The devs explained that it's slow because it has to load XML files every time. But as someone who's job is about coding, it shouldn't take 60 seconds to load a few hundred XML files unless the code was written very poorly.

Game needs a gender slider. Most of my combat troops are women. Its not a huge deal. I just want it to be a little more immersive and more realistic.

I'm sorry but I genuinely, and I say this with intention to offend whatsoever, do not know how can anyone look at Xenonauts 2 and think we got an upgrade. I find the artstyle horrendous, the UI feels empty, NPCs like Chief Engineer and Scientist look like they were made with an AI and I cannot express how lifeless and cheap the 3D models feel like; the latter makes me feel like I'm playing one of the first XComs and not a Xenonaut title.
