I don't think I'll get into breeding necessarily, but I do want my room to have bins, tubs, and tanks everywhere with all kinds of reptiles that I can care for. I started with 1 corn snake. Added another corn snake, and a ball python, then gave my corns to my nephew, bought a Columbian Red Tail Boa, now I have my first baby Leopard Gecko. I want to have all different types of reptiles soon. Not sure why I wrote this long ass comment but oh well. Thanks for reading (Whoever did) =P

I'm a senior in high school as well.. but yea i don't have the expertise to handle these creatures like you probably do, I don't even think i have the time. If it were only one, i believe i could handle it, but wow you have over 40 lizards?? Jeez that's dedicated haha! Congratulations, I don't know how you do it.

Yea mines a juvenille and right now he eats crickets and mealworms because when there young like this they need the protein to grow. He eats around 7 to 8 crickets a day and like 3 mealworms plus I feed him a little bit of collard greens and hes doing great. However mine is a bit skittish since hes young yet I can't trust him to just chill on my shoulder yet because he will just dash away! lol. If you don't want to deal with the taming I'd recommend getting an adult Bearded Dragon. :)

a great alternative to crickets is meal worms which you can put in a Tupperware and feed table scraps and VIOLA! you have an endless colony of food that does't smell/ populate your house... they turn to beetles then lay eggs which hatch into mealworms etc

They basically have the same function but heat tape is usually for like rack systems & large enclosures.

Well i personally love both i love leopard geckos for they're personalitiy and patterns. Crested geckos are kind of expesinve to buy but once you do the care is very veyr easy

yes i have dubiz in the USA we can keep geckos as pets and yes you could buy them from pet shops but they arent as health as a breeders geckos

Hey, think you got this wrong. Heat pads are fine, heat rocks are what can cause burns. Heat pads are actually recommended for a standard (display/non breeding) setup, connected to a thermostat of course.

Hey dude what do you use to measure temperature? Most of the thermometers sold at pet stores are pretty inaccurate? I heard temp guns are much more accurate. Do you use temp guns? And if you do, what brand and model do you use? I assume you have a very accurate device for measuring temperature, considering how successful of a breeder you are. PLEASE REPLY IT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

I'm doing a lot of research on them and some people say is hard than some people say it's easy! And you only need a 10 gallon tank right?

Could you explain a little about the heat tape? I have a heat mat at the bottom of the glass cage but my son wants more..lol... so we may be making a rack soon! Also, do you feed the geckos the roaches you are breeding or do you feed mealworms? Any help for this newbie wld b appreciated!

Yea I actually just bought a baby Bearded Dragon I was so close to buying a juvenille Iguana though. But the pet store workers surprisingly talked me out of it and advised to go with a Bearded Dragon or Leopard Gecko because they are beginner reptiles. I didn't expect a pet store to talk me out of buying an Iguana I didn't think they would care what I buy as long as they get money. XD

I was gonna breed my Aptor het Raptor(he's around 100 grams and 9 or so inches long..big boy) with what was supposed to be my buddy's female Emerine... both geckos are gorgeous for what they are and I was really excited to breed them. We were gonna breed them when she was at 8 months because she was also of healthy weight and size and decided at the last second to wait.. well when she was exactly 10 months old to the day... she turned out to be a he.. no signs until that point whatsoever....

Roaches are good for reptile food, it's optional, but for me, roaches, especially dubia roaches, are better than crickets :)

There are many good breeders out there, sometimes you just have to give breeders a shot at being good breeders ;) and ya i live in the US born and rasied lol. Well have a good one and i hope you have an amazing animal career ahead of you. (in europe i beilive it only takes 4 years to become a vet but in the US it takes 8 years so you might have an in lol i have to do 8 years of collage :P ) Have a good one

lol you have to be joke. No he doesn't overbreed his animals. Matt is a great guy and I 100% support him he is an amazing breeder just because you breed alot of animals doesn't mean he over breeds. Look up the defintion of Overbreeding- Overbreeding is breeding an animal constantly like as soon as an animal is done breeding for a year a indidivual breeds the animal again/ thats abusive breeding / overbreeding. Matt only breeds geckos once a year and doesnt abuse his animals hes a Great Guy!!!

no!!! a bearded dragon is a desert animal native to Australia they require very low humidity.
