Woodwarm are built like an outhouse! Really well built. Had my little fireview 4.5kw for 12 years now. Moved onto a narrowboat in December with a faulty diesel stove and ordered a Woodwarm fireview 4.5kw with back boiler. Got the call 8 weeks later in February to say it's ready to collect. Drove over in my old Volvo 240 estate, 50 miles away to Worcestershire in the snow and freezing temperatures and was like a kid in a candy store with my new stove. My it weighed a lot. Removed all the doors, grate, bricks and used a trolley truck to bring it along the jetty. Fitted it the next day! I was finally warm for once and a joy to use. Still going strong and a pleasure to use to this day!

Hi Gabriel, speaking to Woodwarm they state that the grate does not need to be opened to burn most coal, and any that is stubborn to light, the grate only needs cracked a smidgin. There is enough gap to allow the air from below with the grate in the closed position.

Ps, they also state not to burn logs and coal simultaneously.

@@biggeordie245 You’re correct , however you need some wood to get the coal burning and then keep refuelling with coal . In the depths of winter , I normally run all day on wood then get the fire nice and hot and put coal on for overnight . In the morning it’s still nice and warm and then put logs on . Eventually you have to clean the ash pan at some point letting the wood die down and then empty the pan . I’m using a clock Blithfield 5

The worry with this is to do with moisture content. This can work badly if you’re mixing both fuels with a high moisture content. If they are both dry (as in my case), then this isn’t an issue. To be fair the issue is not really improved if you burn damp wood one day and then damp smokeless the next, the same issues will still arise. It’s all about dry fuel, burn dry and 98% of issues disappear.

Does Woodwarm deliver a front rack for holding coal and a coal bunker-feeder?

I would say it’s generally as stated around 8. There will be some flexibility, but you’re best not to buy it if you’ve got to be overworking the thing.

Thanks, the intention is not to overwork , it is a case of looking for something like the 8 whereby if heating fails I can get as much excess out of it as possible .
