I think the Glimmora in the first fight was named after its appearance-- it looks like a 6-pointed star from the front, and so is the asterisk in this game's font! Second trainer was named Yuudai, which is a rather rare Japanese name. Then Yo-ta is third, which I think is a diminuitive nickname for someone whose name starts with Yo, like William becoming Billy. Then fourth is Yumeto, an uncommon name that helps demonstrate that the Japanese language likes names beginning with Y a lot more than most other languages. Finally, fifth is Tomoharu, which sounds like a normal enough name, except I've never heard it before. But it SOUNDS like dozens of other Japanese names.
