Not the most scenic route I admit but this route has always interested me as I used to have relatives living off the route. This is the 104 that runs from Leicester Haymarket to Thorpe Astley via Highcross, West Bridge, West End, Braunstone Town, Fosse Park and Meridian Business Park. Note that that was the days when this route was Olympians, the 50 and 51 were Scania N113DRBs and the only Lowlander routes were the 84, 85 and 127. Happy days.
The 104 is run by Arriva at Thurmaston using VDL DB250 Wrightbus Geminis and VDL SB200 Wright Pulsars. It runs every 15 minutes to Fosse Park with half hourly extensions to Thorpe Astley. The extension was only introduced in June to replace the 52, which was Wigston-based, only ran once an hour and only needed one bus when it was re-routed via Hinckley Road from Narborough Road the year before, which was usually an E400 MMC but was always a Volvo B9TL towards the end.
Like the 54, this route serves a very dodgy part of Leicester so I'll admit I was a bit uncomfortable timelapsing this, although then again, I was on the 158 as well because I was at the back and on the return people kept turning their heads and staring. It was creepy. Glad when I had to re-do the outbound, I got the 48 back from Hinckley.
