The most voted route the 277! I decided to do in the afternoon/evening because I thought it would look cool. This route felt so long to do with people getting on/off at every stop. I was worried that we going to bump into some traffic at Westferry Station. Now I wasn’t expecting it to be busy and that’s because the buses were delayed and this driver was the only one at Crosshabour. I didn’t get a fast driver though and I was expecting because this bus is a hybrid. For a route that is 8 miles this journey felt like it was 11 miles. On 15 January 1994, the Monday to Saturday service was extended to Leamouth.
On 28 February 1998, the route was retained by Stagecoach East London.
On 10 July 1999, the route was converted to low floor operation with Alexander ALX400 bodied Dennis Tridents.
On 1 March 2003, the route was retained by Stagecoach London and the Sunday service was extended from Canary Wharf to Leamouth. At the same time, a night service in the form of N277 was introduced.
On 27 March 2004, the N-prefix was discontinued and the route was converted to a 24-hour service.
On 29 August 2009, the allocation was transferred to West Ham (WH) garage.
On 27 February 2010, the route was retained by East London.
On 17 September 2011, the day time service allocation was transferred back to Bow (BW) garage.
On 31 August 2013, the night service allocation was transferred back to Bow (BW) garage.
In August 2014, the Alexander ALX400 bodied Dennis Tridents were replaced by existing Scania OmniCitys.
On 17 September 2016, as part of the Isle of Dogs bus changes, the route was withdrawn between Canary Wharf and Leamouth and was diverted instead to Crossharbour via Mudchute replacing part of route 135. The Canary Wharf to Leamouth section was replaced by revised route D3.
In February 2017, brand new Enviro 400 MMC bodied Alexander Dennis E40Hs were introduced alongside the existing Scania OmniCitys.
On 25 February 2017, the route was retained by Stagecoach London.
In May 2017, the Scania OmniCitys were replaced by existing Alexander Dennis Enviro 400Hs.
On 30 June 2018, due to the Highbury Corner roadworks, the route was withdrawn between Dalston Junction and Highbury & Islington, and the night service was renumbered N277.
On 27 June 2020, the allocation was transferred to West Ham (WH) garage.
On 25 September 2021, the route was converted to full Enviro 400 MMC bodied Alexander Dennis E40H operation.
The route will be retained by Stagecoach London using brand new MCV EV bodied Volvo BZL Electrics from 24 February 2024.[1] At the same time, the PVR will decrease from 16 to 15.
