Acts 16:9-15/Revelation 21
When the apostle Paul heard the Spirit sending him to Macedonia, it was something like Jonah being sent to Nineveh. Macedonia was the birthplace of Alexander the Great, the source of Jewish defeat and humiliation.
On this Memorial Day weekend, we face the great paradox of being called into a Kingdom of Peace while at the same time wresting with the reality of human conflict and the wounds the conflict inflict. We also remind ourself of a day when the nations will be at peace and the wicked shall cease their troubling.
