The OP's step family have proven that they are unwilling to love him even though he's not related to them and are willing to treat him like he doesn't matter to them and never will but when he decides to leave the house after finding out the truth about why he was treated that inhumanely but some are ready to criticize and some are asking for forgiveness which is both laughable and ignorant as well, so he is entitled to leave them behind and go NC as well for his mental health and hopefully a serious chance to start over elsewhere for good measure, good for him.

To the OP please keep working with a therapist so you can relearn healthy relationships and know that your "family" you grew up with may be best used as a what not to do in your future relationships. By having ongoing therapy it can help you with the ongoing stages of life and with future relationships and possible issues. Just remember that mental health is as important and is the same as physical health as they are equally damaging if ignored. I as a mom would like to send you good thoughts for you and your future. Blessed be the children and the animals as they are truly pure of heart and souls.
