In a historic moment for the Olympic Games, Team Brazil's Ítalo Ferreira was crowned the first-ever Olympic champion in men’s surfing. After recovering from a broken board on his first run, the 27-year-old was in irrepressible form, surging ahead of Japan's silver medallist Kanoa Igarashi.

it's quite typical of the japanese mentality... in a lot of sports actually! they're some of the most intelligent, talented people on earth but they often try too hard to be perfect and then put themselves under too much pressure... and then they're too hard on themselves afterwards when they don't achieve what they aimed to achieve... which often leads to depression sadly!

Pretty poor that they took over a month to put replays up etc. There was no way to watch these when they happened live or during the week after- it's 2021 Olypmic folks, get with the times and get the WSL or someone to do your broadcast and post heat replays-

That would be like the NHL or MLB posting replays it’s literally illegal due to conflict of interest. Surfing is low on the Olympic priority list, it was the first year. Maybe as it gains more respect world wide then the coverage will be better but unfortunately it’s not right now

Surfing doesnt seem like something you would score based off of even one days session per stage. If its terrible circumstances it seems more like a lottery contest. I feel it should be judged over a longer period where each contestant has plenty of oppurtunity to get a fair session to be judged and after each contestant has surfed x amount of waves over like a 3 day period then it would be scored off the total combined for a stage.
