I started reselling full time when I retired, I love reselling , work 7 days a week at it. That’s the beauty of it , you can work your own hours.

Candice's comments at the end are another great aspect of your work situation now---she wanted an easy day, and so she created one for herself. She still got things done. Items were still listed. But she was able to decide what she wanted to work with and she chose items that she felt she could get through & still feel like she was taking it easy. 🙂

45:05 Are you familiar with grading comics, Lonnie? You described this comic as "GOOD". For comics, that's a very bad condition. The only thing worse would be the grading "FAIR". "GOOD" is the second worst grading. Judging by the pictures of the listing, I would say it is a VF - VF+, depends on the condition of the inner part. But it looks like a high grade. To get the best price out of the comics, you should do some digging. You can find grading lists online to classify your comics easier. In the listing you state condition "good", in the text "nice condition" and in seller notes again "good condition". Collectors pay attention to this, even if the images are very detailed. And if they think it's just "GOOD", they're not willing to pay a high price.

It has been a struggle, but mentally so much better than working for an employer. I was a manager and the amount of responsibilities put on me was so stressful. I am a people pleaser so I never said no to any task. Work is fun now. I wish I would have quit my job years ago.

I've always enjoyed reselling--I wouldn't have kept on for over 20 years if I didn't--despite the occasional frustrations with eBay or worry when sales are inexplicably slow. I have resold part time and full time and am planning on returning to full time again once my current employer finally pulls the plug and pays me off! To be honest, during bad periods in my day job (working for a business that is slowly dying can be stressful!) I look forward to going back to my desk at home and settling down to some late night listing or browsing auction catalogues. When people ask about hobbies they can find it hard sometimes to understand that the business I've run for 22 years *is* my hobby as well as a source of income. When I want a bit of fresh air I'll take a walk around the town and check out the charity shops (ie 'thrift stores') even though they aren't a major part of my sourcing. When I'm working or travelling I'll listen to reselling podcasts and here I am, taking a break from listing on a Saturday evening with a cup of tea (I am British, after all) and KZbin reselling videos. Me, obsessed? Now, where did I put that SD card of photos. . .

With APO - never know where it's actually going to it could be going to Germany Europe or anywhere overseas, it ships to a central location the Armed Forces post office takes care of it from there... over packaging is always a good idea, waterproofing packages is always a good idea putting the APO address in large block letters on the exterior of the package is always a good idea, putting an additional mailing label inside is a good idea... I like shipping too Post Office boxes, less hands involved, no porch pirate....

If you ever stress that the business slows then you can get a job working for someone else and sell on the the side until you find another platform or method to improve sales. No need to stress because one door closes another opens as the saying goes. Besides you both have a good eye with what you pick and sell with a great business mind of making a healthy profit. You guys are doing great!

For insurance on items in my ebay business I take 50 cents from each sale and all it my "oops account". This is for returns and screw-ups that were my fault and things out of my control (damaged packages, didn't arrive, etc.). I sell about 1000 items a year so that account has $500 a year. I almost never go over that amount with problems like those above in a given year. I also do this with our three pets. I put a certain amount each month in an account for big vet bills. The small bills I pay out of pocket with our normal paychecks and let that account build for the unforeseen large vet bills. It has worked out great.

HEY YOU ANSWERED MY QUESTION YEAY! We’ll definitely not 1st today. Was out at garage/estate today 😀 and did ok. Thanks for answering my question. You went very in-depth with your answer. I generally don’t add the insurance either, but my confidence in the USPS Ground Advantage is not extremely high as it is a new service and I have had a couple packages that have not been delivered. My packing skills are pretty darn good (AS I LEARNED MOSTLY FROM YOU LONNIE😀). My concern is that my post office will use it. I think I am going to start a insurance jar and at the end of the year whatever I would have spent I will treat myself to something. Great video as always.

One time I insured a very rare retro computer for $1000 (going ebay value) with UPS. UPS lost it. When I tried to collect, they wanted to see the original purchase receipt from 1979. Of course I didn't have that so they denied the claim. Never paid for insurance again after that.

I absolutely love reselling! I do, however, have my full-time job, which to me isn't that stressful. For peace of mind, I have to have that predictable, steady income. But, I hope to never quit resellinng. When I ship something, especially if it's breakable, and it arrives in one piece and I get a good feedback, I have such a feeling of accomplishment. It just makes me feel really good! Maybe someday I will want to sell full-time. You two have done an amazing job with your stores and your KZbin channel!

Japanese Porn: from my time living in Japan I recall that the have very strict anti “Porn Laws”, but Manga Comics and Animae DVDs seemed to be excluded from the rules, since they are “cartoons”, which is likely why it’s so prolific there and would be read openly on the commuter trains and subways. They call it Ero Manga, Seinen or Hentai to describe it differently the regular Manga or Animae. When they do Porn with real people, the dreaded digital dot would be used to obscure filmed areas or blacked out shapes in printed material. Different Strokes for different folks!

I enjoy watching you procuring and selling items...I had sold part time 15 years thinking I would continue to do in early retirement from a 6o hour week job in a 24 hr huge industry job where my phone rang with issues daily...but I saw I just wanted to retire early and watch somebody else work since didn't need funds anymore...:-). Self insurance (no insurance) by not buying it unless very high risk or not getting extended warranties etc. is usually best course. Hope you have a good fourth quarter.

USPS insurance ... about the 22 minute time.. I received word from USPS regarding an item claim I had made on a "breakable" item. They sited No.# 17 or 22 (its' been awhile!)? of why they wouldn't pay out on the claim. Now, the buyer was wonderful and took great photos - which I submitted SHOWING the packaging and SHOWING the damagaes and the buyer KNEW it wasn't neglect on my part when they asked for a refund on their purchase. USPS in a nutshell WILL NOT cover ANYTHING breakable NO MATTER HOW WELL IT WAS packaged. Of course the list was LONG and quite an eye-opening experience. Lesson learned. It's an absolute SHAM. As you said, feel free to set aside your own "insurance" money if you feel it is necessary.

Packing Priority: when pressed for time I’ll pack items like Repair Parts, Spark Plugs, Speciality Tools and Replacement Hardware to get them out before items like ball caps and collectibles, using the same thought process that a buyer’s project may be held up while waiting. But Candice may be right that our thinking is unlikely. Could be the guy hopes for a delay on that part or hardware, so he can go fishing and avoid the “Honey Do” list!

With the insurance, it should depend on what you originally paid for it, and possibly time spent. If you paid $20, and sold it for $500, and something happens and you need to refund the buyer, having the regular $100 insurance still covers your original cost of $20 and you end up making an extra $80. So your $500 sale ends up only being an $80 profit, minus the time and hassle. In the end though you aren't out $500 since in the end you only had $20 and your time jntk the item. Most individual item you guys buy end up costing below $100, so the not buying insurance doesn't matter since the regular $100 will cover your cost and potential time while still making something. Now if you spent near or over $100 on the item before even selling it, getting extra insurance may make more sense.

Original buy cost is a sunk cost and should factor zero in deciding whether or not to insure an item.

I will say usps screwed us on an insurance claim for an 800$ package. They’ve paid any other claims I’ve had, but the 800$ claim they kinda screwed me on it. Just denying it no way to fight it or anything. Just kinda at the mercy of if they wanna do it or not.

The insurance offered by Ebay is very good and is pretty much 100% guaranteed (I have some really good stories where they paid, no questions asked). Now, the insurance that UPS and USPS provide, even if you pay extra, is much harder to get them to pay out. I just charge enough for shipping to use the extra Ebay insurance, it's well worth it and has paid for itself with several $100+ items that never got delivered. But if you can eat the cost of several hundred dollars, you do you. I personally can't afford to lose any money these days. Take care. 😎😎

if you put the money in a jar instead of pay for the insurance that's actually calling it self ensuring your items by saving the money in case you need it. If we all did that for our car insurance for our house insurance and if we had the self discipline to never touch it we would not need insurance companies for the most part because the 20 to 30 years of saving money in an insurance account or an insurance jar eventually you start earning interest on that money if it was an account in a bank think about that you could literally invest it. I think Insurance is the biggest scam around. I think people just don't know how to save money anymore so they rely on other people to save their money for them in the form of insurance and retirement plans.
