To keep a little mice out use peppermint spray essential oils. Or you can use little satchels with cinnamon sticks, clothes and pepper flakes and put them around the RV, but another RV with Tiffany she uses the peppermint. She puts them on cotton balls and put them around the tires under the hood and inside the RV when she’s at a campground and she doesn’t get any mice. I also use it in the car and at home.

Had to LOL at your hose blowing off, same thing happened to us at a truck stop dump station with a guy with a truck and trailer behind us outside his rig watching our every move. To say the least I was shocked and embarrassed. He was cool and said everybody has done it at least once. We have the same model rv as you and they made the exit pipe too close to the floor to make it easy to connect the hose. Anyway like you said 'lesson learned'. When I hook it up now I double check to make sure it's tightly connected.

Wow! We’ve been to Jalama several times (we used to live a few hours south of Jalama) and never saw it so empty! I understand why, but wow! Jalama burgers are the best! That was our old, no longer with us Labrador’s favorite beach.

That black tank situation is making me think twice about an RV. I thought dumping the waste from a van would be tough to do but that…….🤦🏽‍♀️. I guess I will have to remember what happened to you when I get mine.

Unfortunately you can test your connection with a little grey water first but once you pull the lever and the power of a full tank comes rushing out if your hose isn’t held in place with a big rock or a heavy foot then watch out for an explosion. At our last campground the dump station was closed so we went to our local gas station, where we know everyone, and it was crowded. Our van has a short hose so we parked as close as possible but the hose was stretched tight and then the worst case happened. Oh my golly… I heard my husband hollering while screaming NO. I poked my head out and the smell was beyond horrifying and he was standing in the middle of cesspool with a hose he was having trouble grabbing a hold of while it was whipping around due to the force of the full tank coming out. If I had been a good wife I would have jumped out and slammed the lever closed but instead I quickly tucked my head back in, closed the window and laughed till I cried. Everyone within a quarter mile could smell what was happening. There stood hubby in a 5 foot wide cesspool that was slowly draining and I just couldn’t stop laughing. You could visibly see everyone shaking their heads and gagging. Now when he pulls that black tank lever he pulses it to control the force.

Always test the connection with letting the gray first just for a smidge. If good, close and Slowly open the black.

We’ve been going to Jalama Beach Campground for over 40 years. People drive for miles to get the famous Jalama Burger.

It’s one of the most beautiful state/county parks that we’ve been too so far. I can see it being packed in the height of their season. The burger was REALLY good

I'm sorry, but I am sitting here chuckling about your black tank misadventure. I do not rv yet, but have listened to quite a few stories, so do not feel alone. I somehow thought the mouse would be involved (due to the "crunch") thank goodness that did not happen.🥴 I've been a nurse for 48 years and have been involved in many leaks, explosions and wardrobe malfunctions with "poop" so my heart goes out to you, but still would have liked to observe (nurses macabre humor) I definitely would have gagged with you and helped clean up!
