My notes as I watch: You gave your location straight off. Excellent. You listed the plantings by common names. Excellent. You have the same noisy Mocking Bird I have. He must make trips through Central Florida to Altamonte Springs. I get the vibe that you're a "What's Growin' On" Pete fan. Love to meet that guy, too. Not too many know about "Kattuk". The Barbados Crabapple LOVES to be heavily pruned during dormancy. I found that LIME will help sweeten the fruit slightly. Great video, Cor. Question: Have you heard that RED passion vine actually produces fruit? I have the blue and the purple and get tons of flowers. I also have tons of Squirrels but, I've never seen ONE fruit. Trying the red this year. Persimmon. YUCK! Dude, non-astringent? I bought one from the store and it was super nasty and filmy. Guess what is fruiting for real at my house this year? From worst to best, my pomegranates! Yea. Do you have those? Recommend. Hey, let's meet up for coffee. Wanna talk about the winter of 2020 and how you over-winter.
@CorJenFarm3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comments, yes I'm aware the red flowered passion vines will fruit, my red one died this winter. Astringent persimmon have to get super soft like jello and that filmy nastiness will go away. My wife and I don't drink coffee but we surely love to meet up with other gardeners. We welcome people over often. We can travel as well. Sunday works best for us because we have church functions all day Saturday so we are not available. I(Corey) work during the week. My wife Jen takes care of a million other things during the week. If you have any ideas let me know. Thanks.

@CorJenFarm3 жыл бұрын
It's hard to say, I love all those fruits. As far as best fruit that is also cold hardy and disease resistant I would say jaboticaba. It's the cold hardiest of all those tropicals and never have disease issues and the fruit is great. Get the red jabo and it fruits most of the year. I like mango better but it's not as hardy. I'm considering putting in a large area of jaboticaba..

Something I just learned about the Sajo Persimmon. I ALMOST bought one, and this includes ALL "Asian" cultivars. "Requires 200 chill hours to produce fruit". That's one way to put it. Another way is, "It will DIE in less than 200 chill hours because it can't go into deep rest". I wrote that last one myself so, that's not really a quote. Also, I have only substantiated this from owners, no science resources. But, it makes sense.
