RECIPE
1600g (56oz)Cocoa Butter
200g (7oz) Shea Butter
200g (7oz) White Beeswax
FRAGRANCE This recipe will take a huge amount of fragrance but please check with your countries legislation to see how much you are legally allowed to add.
The UK, it's 3% but you will also have to check the fragrance oil usage level allowance with the supplier of the FO as each fragrance now has different quantities allowed depending on its own ingredients or which strength it is made.

I use a double boiler still and melt my bee's wax and cocoa butter separate. The OCD, control issue, I have!!!❤❤❤ I put sodium hydroxide or citric acid to control the ph. All skincare products should fall between 4 5 to 5 5. The natural ph of your skins mantle.

so I'm a bit skincare formulation obsessed, and essentially, the reason they need to lower the PH of lotions with sodium hydroxide is because your skin's natural PH is around a 5.5/6! and a lot of the time, formulations would be far too acidic without it. it's also the same reason citric acid is used in some skincare products! consistently putting something that's too high or too low in PH can lead to some pretty nasty skin problems
@osieg

Would you be able to use citric acid in this type of recipe? I’m new to this. Just learning. I made a moisturizer and used a touch of CA to lower the PH. Thank you.

@@osieg if you need to raise the PH for some reason, then yes! Citric acid and sodium hydroxide are used to balance out PH. As long as the overall PH is within a reasonable margin, it'll be fine. So sorry I didn't reply sooner :)

Great tutorial. These massage bars sound delicious! Thank you. On a side note: Please don't cut any ingrediant into your hand like that. Massive health and safety basic. With a knife that size you could really do yourself some damage too. And it would be typical that someone sees it here, copies it and comes a cropper. And for those waiting to jump on this... no I'm not a Karen. Just really concerned for the creator's hands, and anyone who choses to copy. Yes she may have been doing it that way for ages but it really doesn't matter. Plus none of this is said in malice. (And isn't it crazy that I feel I have to pre-protect myself like this just because I have a comment with an opinion that I'm adding to the comment section.)

I can't wait to try these again. Your cocoa butter looks a lot more dry and brittle than the cocoa butter I get here in Canada. I have not been able to get mine to harden more than a firm vaseline. Maybe it's because of my cocoa butter being smoother looking? I followed the previous recipes exactly, and it was disastrous. I do buy the refined/deodorized cocoa butter. Do you think that's the reason?

@Heartwing37
@Heartwing37 Жыл бұрын
I think the only issue may just be control. Painting on the bars allows a great deal of control but pouring the hot soap I would shift or absorb the mica. Because the exothermic reaction with epoxy starts in the center, the mica bonds to the cooler exterior of the resin. You could try it though…

Bea: Fragrance oils are specifically made for skincare application and are quite safe. They are not toxic. If you have a particular sensitivity to them, I suggest you study essential oils which may be a better choice for your particular application.
@Roxy222uk
@Roxy222uk 2 жыл бұрын
Probably, Bea, you are reacting to an allergen within the fragrance oil (allergens are also in essential oils) and if you could pin down which one you'd be able to work out which products you are okay with and which you must avoid. The EU and UK require 26 allergens to be declared on labels. Google to find a list of the 26 allergenic substances. These are not toxic, just the most common substances that people have allergies to. You may have seen 'linalool' or 'hexyl cinnamal' at the end of an ingredient list, for example, and that's what they are.

@@barbaraayala7808 convert the recipe to percentages. Any recipe you get. Then run a 100g test batch (or 50g). So if it was 25% wax, it would be 25g wax (or 17.5g if your batch weight is 50g). Also, there are differences between suppliers and even batches with suppliers. Natural butters just vary. Cocoa butter is probably the only consistent butter I've seen as far as consistency goes. Her fragrance level will be different from your fragrance level if you live in a different country or even state. Follow the manufacturer advice on fragrance. Read the caption at the top where she specified that.

Have you ever thought about editing your videos. There is a lot of dead space and unnecessary dead air.

Consider the warning labels on essential oils, Bea. Either FO or EO, when used properly, is safe.

I don't usually comment on videos.... ever. But I could not leave the video without saying this. Is anyone else bothered by her bare hands being used? How do we know she washed her hands prior, and repeatedly through out the video? It's just ICKY! Seeing how you make this, I'd NEVER buy from you. You can "sanitize" your hands all you want, but you're constantly shedding skin cells, hair, etc AND your body will replenish the oils on your skin very quickly. I just can't... I'm sure your bars are great, but knowing that you used bare hands would deter me from buying these for sure, and anything else you make because of the assumption that you do the same with every other product you make. Please do everyone, especially your clients, a favor and take the extra moment to put on latex gloves or something of the like. It's very cringe that you stick your bare hands into something you sell. You even left in the part where you pulled a hair out of the oils with your bare hands.

You may want to clean your screen to see clearly dear. That’s not dirt it’s glitter on the tips of her nails. There’s no dirt under her nails. Hope this helped. 😊
