First, WONDERFUL. Second, I'll openly admit I didn't quite understand it, though I got the gravity and basic outline of it all. Third don't miss this. It is really really well done and worth all of the time, twice over. SPOILER SPOILER . . . I REALLY appreciate that they gave us a FL who did not betray anyone. She was true to what she believed was the thing to do. She was innocent and loyal the entire way through, as soon as she put her heart on a thing. I like that they didn't make her deeply intellectual, but just someone who is who she is at the very core, with zero thoughts for bigger things. There is a depth to that we don't see very often in entertainment media.

Mr Wei and his father have had their characters assassinated over and over again. There were many attempt on Mr Wei's life. He could have died in prison had his underlining not gotten new evidence.

I haven't watched the whole thing yet. In ancient Chinese culture the Marquee title can be gifted by the emperor or inherited. If the main lead's father was a Marquee and he died one of his sons (normally the oldest) inherited the title. We can't base things on our time. Most women got married and had children as teenagers. Teenage boys went to war and people didn't live as long.

One thing I've noticed in these dramas is that children do a lot of paying for their parents sins. Even if all the rumors were true, it would have been his dad who was at fault, not him. Sometimes I wonder if this is played up for dramas or is this how people really behave? I for one know I wouldn't want to be held accountable for anything my parents did.
