This is very educative! Hon. Dogara spoke brilliantly well. I never listened to him this way before. He sent a perfect message to the conservative Northern leaders. He spoke like a patriot. Prof. Taiwo Oyedele is exceptionally competent and eloquent. What I learnt here is that effect of reacting on hear-say before making personal research may be damaging. To Channels TV, thanks for standing out in bringing out the truth to the public. God bless Mr President. God bless Nigeria

With all due respect to Mr. Oyedele, the Chairman of the Tax Reform Bills, tells us that having a good education, skillful knowledge with wisdom, and leadership skills is a blessing in disguise. As such, the government needs to fish out some of the gifted knowledgeable, skillful and intelligence Nigerians to drive the socio-economic development paradigm shift from the dysfunctional system of yester-years. Knowledge is the most important element to move Nigeria out of the current quagmire and confusion. May the almighty Allah bless our good leaders with inspiration and wisdom of leadership.

Great work Sean and ChannelsTV. It was nice Gov Sule put a call through…This shows a huge synergy gap even btw NEC and the Executive, and it is sad for Democracy. But, going forward, I think each Governor should organize such Townhall session with key stakeholders and the people, to discuss the Bills including their revenues, budget proposals, expenditures as well as Subsidy allocations, etc… I think this is time for reckoning…If truly our leaders are sincere!!!

I narrated sometime ago about my experience serving (NYSC) in the North. One major thing I highlighted then was exactly what's playing out at a national scene in all this happening now. I noticed majority from that side of the country never bother to find out details of matters or information before jumping into defensive action of one of theirs. You will have issue with one of them, instead of trying to ask and know what exactly transpired between us both, they just simply jump into the defense of their fellow even when theirs is crystal clearly at fault (how do they even want to know when they don't bother to ask). Even many times threaten to stab you 🤦 Now to this bill, because some politician who just decided to play politics with this came out to say some trash and ethnicised the bill, many others from the north including their traditional rulers just jumped into the wagon and started saying it's anti-North 🤷🏼♂️. It's very shameful and a big slap on the intelligence of the majority from that region. Few exceptionally intelligent 🧠 ones from the North will make you feel they are actually using the accumulative intelligence that belongs to the millions of others from that side... 🤷🏼♂️ (e.g Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, Sheu Sanni, Yakubu Dogara, Yusuf Baba and few others). The simple bitter truth is that, the North needs to prioritise education so much to brushen up and sanitise the stinking, backward and uncivilised orientation of their population. And the reason I believe they are happy to keep their population that way was bcs they are easy to direct to the political class direction during election.... 🤷🏼♂️. They voluntarily kept rusting the orientation of their own people so they can be easily used for polical gain in election time (uneducated people are easy to direct/fool). But they forget, they are digging their own graves. This is the same matter Sanusi addressed during his first stint as Emir that lead to his removal by Ganduje. When he criticised his building of bridges and malls rather than investing in education... Is Sanusi now right or not? SHAME ON THE NORTHERN LEADERS for making their population that way for their selfish political interest. The onus is on them 💯 The other parts of Nigeria can't be kept held down just bcs the North want to catch up (yet never shows any seriousness in doing so by their leaders).... Enough is Enough ... This is Generation Z💯🤷🏼♂️ 🇳🇬 God Bless Nigeria 🇳🇬

You're lying sir. What the nothern governors are is that they to have understanding for bill it's passed by the National Assembly. So why the rush? We need to know that reading the bill is different from understanding the bill. The governors as stake holders of their states need explanation from the chairman before they can support it and they are right. The governor who represents the NEC in asking the FG to widraw the bill for further consultation is seyi makinde of OYO. You can see from the townhall meeting EVEN THE SO CALL ELITES AND THOSE THAT READ THE BILL ASKING THE CHAIRMAN QUESTIONS AND SEEKING MORE UNDERSTANDING FROM WHAT THEY READ, such as Paul Alaje. The governor of Nasarawa called and confirmed that he was not consulted by the charman and this is only one governor. This bill is important to the lives of Nigerians, so we need to understand what we are going through before supporting but most southerners are blindly supporting because the president is from their region, some didn't even read the bill and are ready to support it. If not because the Northern governors oppose this bill by now it would have been passed by the National Assembly but now see the way people are getting more and more understanding due to this opposition.

@@V-VoicelessThe Governors re liar /prentenders they understand the bill they re discrediting it bcos it 'll nt serve their selfish motives, listen vry well to what former speaker said Dogara that Governors mk laws in their houses & bring it to the state houses of assembly without consultation & many more of their unlawful act in regards to passing law

It's not just a northern thing it's something that of one looks is global, there is a terrible lack of conigtive reasoning, we've seen sensitization of simple matters using ethnic, nationalist propaganda, most people take a position primarily on political ethnic bias and not on the validity of the matter or the facts therein.
@Aro_GidigbaАй бұрын
@@V-Voicelesswhat you've typed is pure nonsense,the purpose of the legislature is to evaluate bills, make ammendments and pass it on for executive assent, the bill is now at a stage where public input is welcome having passed second reading, the bill is a public item and the committee has made itself available to the governors, any serious state governor would have gotten their finance commissioner and his team to review the bill and evaluate the consequences on the state, and then make selective objections to aspects of the bill and seek to gather consensus to have that section changed. The reason for the objection is political and ethnic in nature, the Northern leaders think this bill along with others like the local government judgement opens up the question of federalism and restructuring, they want to slow up momentum and hold the president to political ransom against 2027

Sir, my respected professor, once said it all that many goes to the universities for knowledge acquisition and then graduates. But, the majority of the graduates just passed through the walls of the universities without acquiring any credible knowledge both for themselves as well as for their society. The wisdom and philosophy of the above tells us that if one misses critical thinking, the process for understanding the phenomenon and also misses innovative ways of getting better results has missed the knowledge of the university. Our major problem in Nigeria is the ability of the Nigeria politicians to be able to conceptualise phenomenon and put up their creative thinking caps, not gossiping cap or laziness to read and to comprehending it to his or her understanding. The contemporary Nigeria we live today needs creative, innovativeness and critical development thinkers to overcome any foreseen or unforseen issues in the near future.

I totally support the tax reform bills because when the country is not doing good economically. There must be a tax scheme considering the total population of Nigeria. But also tax relief and refunds for both companies and individuals. Every country collects tax from citizens and non citizens. But before doing that the government must have to invest in certain areas such as: security, energy, roads, infrastructures, transportation, education, technology and etc. by attracting and providing foreign direct investment. We cannot depend on natural and mineral resources as a source of national income alone. We must expand our income through exportation.

@muhammadkabeer37199 күн бұрын
First, I think the selection of the panelist is biased, all of them are in support, it would be fairer to include those not in support also, this is more of a promotion not an objective debate. Secondly, very good explanation by the Chairman, he has done his homework. But let's not be gullible or intentionally foolish. When the subsidy was removed, the major argument was that it would be in the interest of the common man. It was said that the money would be channeled to education, healthcare, roads, etc. And what happened after that? A new presidential cruise ship, renovation of the VP's house that he doesn't need at all, buying of luxury cars for politicians - should I keep going? My point is, the whole issue is because the people do not trust those in charge. They fear that whatever is collected by whatever means will be stolen by a few thieves, which is 100% correct from many experiences. This town hall, debates, and noise means Nigerians are not as gullible as they were, which is a good thing on its own. Let's make Nigeria great again!
