I miss such stylistic and dramatic movies like Om Shanti Om. The lighting is perfect, Shahrukh Khan appearing out of nowhere behind actresses, him kissing Karishma Kapoors hands but the hands are filmed so aligned that it looks like he's kissing both hands, or him entering (ie coming on screen) out of nowhere behind the dancers in the opening scene of the Dard e disco song, (and Im sure there are going to be many such artistic and stylistic moments/shots throughout the film.). If this isnt art then what is. Not everyone can make such type of films and shoot such type of shots/scenes. This is also a form of art but a lot of the time its looked down upon by people who only consider 'realistic' cinema/movies as only art or good movies. Entertainment (/masala) or comedy genre looks (ie they all look) non-artistic to them. There are different genre of movies and on needs to understand that. No everyone can make a Singham or Om Shanti Om goddammit. Anurag kashyap cant make an om shanti om or singham and farah khan cant make a gangs of wasseypur, its as simple as that. Art is anything that the rest of the world cant do and hence om shanti om or singham are artistic too, coz as I said not everyone can make such artistic or cool looking (cool looking action scenes in case of Singham) movies. And again, I SO miss such 'artistic and 'dramatic movies (where like as you can see light changes when a villain comes like in this song and has such dramatic and artistic touch(/color) to the whole film. (Edit 2: or dramatic looks (/expressions/acting) of actors - like as you said during their mexican stand off lol. Or stuff like wind blowing on hair in so many dances and I guess (assume tbh as I dont recall any such scene on top of my head rn) prolly there must be some scenes too in om shanti om or any other Bollywood movie in which wind is blowing in hair., etc all such (dramatic and artistic) stuff of a typical "bollywood" genre movie.).)' ' like Om shanti Om and such (good) (even though its a cliche word now coz a lot of masala movies are made cheap so people associate cheap with masala i guess nowadays, but) masala movies. Basically I miss such 'real "Bollywood" ' movies - which are full paisa wasool and packed with entertainment. The genre of Om Shanti Om needs to come back (it needs to make a come back in Bollywood.). And I am so glad that people back then allowed to make film makers such films and were just oversmart like they are in todays time who make fun of and look down upon anything non-real life like as shit and bad. Hence its difficult to make a movie like Om Shanti Om in todays time because these 'elite' (edit: they thing that they are being elite by shitting on all other genre than 'realistic genre. So psudo-eilte i should say as they 'think' they are being elite and smart and cool.) oversmart people who dont understand that there are multiple genre of movies would give the movie a hard time and shit on it by saying oh its so over the top or dramatic or cringy or what not and would literally look down upon people who like such movies. Bitch there are multiple genres, how many time i gotta tell you. Its like people looking at Theater performance and 'looking down upon it or people who watch it and calling it names', by saying oh it so over the top, the acting is also so unrealistic or unnatural, or they were doing so much over acting or they were so dramatic. Bitch its supposed to have it. Its a theater performance and thats how they are supposed to do it and they are PURPOSELY doing it, you are not being some ultra intelligent guy who is understanding that its over the top or dramatic. The makers and performers (ie the theater actors who perform) already know that and as I said they are purposely doing it. Again, people seriously need to understand and respect different genres of movies (and that there can be different genre of things - like theater is an example of a genre or opera is a genre/type of song/music). Not everything has to be super realistic. Edit 2 conti: Yes, I said about wind in hair or dramatic look, etc such stuff being in typical "Bollywood" movies. But it should be noted that important to execute properly all these things and know when (ie in which scenes) to put things and when not. Because if you do it wrongly or in places where it isnt required or suited at all or if you overdo it (both by quantity wise (ie do it a lot throughout the movies) or quality(ie size/amount) wise (ie blow a fcking jet on his hair or something)), then obviously it will look cringy and bad. So yeah if you it nicely and only in places where it fits perfectly and dont overdo it, then only it looks nice. Like you cant just show me a dramtic looks movie or wind in hari movie and except me to like it because I said 'I like typical "Bollywood" or masala movies (too, btw. Its not only)'. Theres a difference between a good and bad/cheap movie in any genre, including the typical "Bollywood" or masala genre. Like I like Singham (singham 1) but I dont like some freakin like Satyamev jayate 2 of John Abraham. Both are considered masala films, but one is good and of quality and with cool (looking) fighting scenes (and dialogues too are amazing and your enthu increasing - ie they make you excited and lifts your spirits (for lack of a better word which isnt coming (ie dont have) in my mind rn) and just literally make you feel his anger and passion when he says some amazing dialog to a villain or his senior police officer) and the other is cheap and cringy af. Its like how in comedy genre there can be a good comedy movie with quality and funny jokes and then there can be a movie which isnt funny at all or/and is cringy. Best example of this case is welcome 1 and 2. Welcome 1 is epic and have literally become a classic in todays time with so many memes from it and welcome 2 is literal torture. Or dhamaal is a very funny film but all its next parts are very bad and its last part is also torture level - its in the same league as Welcome back. But no movie has made me feel the (literal) torture that I feel when I watch welcome back. Or how golmaal 1,2,3 are good (I absolutely love the 3), but golmaal 4 is shitty af (golmaal 4 is nothing but jokes repeated from 1,2 and 3 but in a bad (and unfunny af) way(/manner). So many jokes are repeated in 4 that Ive been always saying every since I watched it (like from the theater itself) that its not golmaal 1, 2,3, 4 but its golmaal 1,2,3 and then golmaal 1+2+3.)
