In this video, the center tapped full wave rectifier and full wave bridge rectifier has been explained. The video also includes a brief discussion about the different Full wave rectifier parameters like Peak Inverse Voltage (PIV), ripple factor, efficiency, Average and RMS voltage etc.

What is Full wave rectifier:
The full wave rectifier is a very useful circuit for AC to DC conversion and it is designed using the diodes.
Unlike the half-wave rectifier, the full wave rectifier gives output during both half cycles. Hence, the average or DC value of the output signal is more than the signal which is rectified using a half-wave rectifier.
In this video, the following full wave rectifier circuits have been explained.
1) Center tapped full wave rectifier
2) Full wave bridge rectifier
The output of the Full wave rectifier is pulsating DC. The ripple in the output waveform can be reduced using the filter.
To remove or reduce the ripple from the output waveform, the RC time constant of the filter circuit should be much larger than the time period of the Full wave rectifier.
Parameters of the Full wave rectifier:
Average Value: 2Vm / π
RMS Value: Vm/√2
Ripple Factor: 0.48
Efficiency: 81.2 %
PIV: 2Vm (Center tapped Full-wave Rectifier)
PIV: Vm (Full wave Bridge Rectifier)
Output Frequency: 2f

I totally forgot about the center-tapped transformer since my schooling. I never use it; I always use a full-wave, 4 diode rectifier circuit with a high-quality pi filter using to capacitors and an inductor.

thank you very informative for me....i am wanting to make a bike battery charger or buy one 240v ac to round 60v dc..the batterys are lithium titenate and can take all the amps and more a house out let plug can give..i have 2 questions..1: what sort of diodes would i use to make a diode bridge circuit ?and ..2: because i have a battery down stream can i make the circuit with out a capasitor?

Very good explanation. Can you please explain, how to choose the value of components. For example if some wants to make circuit for 9V and 1A. What will be the value of various components?

Sir I am trying to make a electric magnet in a the base of a 30 inch metal bender I cut out and wielded it in a form of a magnet I am using a 200 amp 2 pole full bridge rectifier to change the current to dc but it keeps tripping the breaker. Do I need a transformer in front of the rectifier. Please give me some tips on making this project work. I would appreciate it

V avg for bridge rectifier shall include 0.7 instead of 1.4 according to me because second diode is after the load and we take output from load. Am I correct?

A full wave center-tapped transformer rectifier in a power supply provides an average dc output voltage of 14V on which a maximum ripple of +/-0.5 volt is allowed. Diodes have a 0.7V drop when conducting. If you see the output waveform, then it repeats itself after a T/2 time period (Compared to the original waveform) Hence, the frequency of the output waveform is double compared to the original waveform.
