I see a sigma 50mm? Title seems way off if so
@liamgoodvisuals
@liamgoodvisuals 3 жыл бұрын
Yep I used a Sigma 50 too :) when I posted this I had just made another video with mainly the Sigma 50mm so I thought I would title this one differently, since I did use the Sony 85 for the majority of the day. Thanks for your comment!

What kind of exposure settings did you have for those getting ready shots? I shot at a wedding with similar lighting recently and found it tricky to get it right. Do you always underexpose and fix in post?
@liamgoodvisuals
@liamgoodvisuals 3 жыл бұрын
That's a really great question! For getting ready photos I usually A) make sure all the orange lights are off (so that I can just use the window natural light), B) set my aperture to 1.4 or 1.8 (helpful for busy environments), and C) set my ISO as low as the environment allows. Shooting mirrorless really helps so you can see how you're playing with the light in real time. Sometimes I purposefully underexpose so I can retain more highlight information, and overall so that I know I am happy with the direction of light in my image. If you don't shoot mirrorless that's fine, you you can just jump in/out of live view on DSLR to consistently be in tune with your exposure. Hope this helps! and thanks for being here - lots more videos in the works for me :)
@liamgoodvisuals
@liamgoodvisuals 3 жыл бұрын
Ps. More specifically, I imagine most of those getting ready photos are between 250-1000 shutter speed, 100-500 ISO, and F1.4. That’s typically how I roll.

Hey Liam! Thank you for the behind the scenes look :) Beautiful photos! I was wondering how you deal with the buffer time on the Sony when switching between photo and video? Thank you! :)
@liamgoodvisuals
@liamgoodvisuals 4 жыл бұрын
Hey gabby! Sorry I’m just seeing your comment now - it’s a great question! Unfortunately the answer is kinda just “deal” with it haha. Some things help like using fast cards and compressed RAW, but otherwise you just need to be super conscious of not shooting too much before going to hit record. Which is doable with the awesome autofocus system on the A7iii’s!

You really love the Sigma 50mm, don't you? How do you feel about 70-200's for weddings?
@liamgoodvisuals
@liamgoodvisuals 4 жыл бұрын
David Kleinjan The video autofocus isn’t the best on the Sony version - but photo autofocus is more than good enough 😌 the cost to performance ratio of the Sigma 50 ART is great all around. 70-200’s are awesome for weddings, particularly ceremonies when you don’t want to get in anyone’s way. That said, I use an 85 far more than I’ve ever used a 70-200. Especially this ceremony, I was 50/85 most of the time because it was a more intimate space. Thanks for your question!

@@liamgoodvisuals Yeah i know right, i own the Sigma 50mm ART EF-mount adapted to my Canon EOS R. Amazing how it performances compared to the expensive competitors. I really like your portraits with that focal length.

What percentage of your shots do you think you get with your 24gm?
@liamgoodvisuals
@liamgoodvisuals 4 жыл бұрын
Tyler in terms of focus accuracy or how many photos do I take with 24 vs. other focal lengths? Focus accuracy is almost hard to believe. It’s freakishly good. There’s almost TOO MANY photos in focus hah. It can make culling a wedding hard. In terms of a final gallery, I probably deliver 1/4 to 1/3rd 24mm (or some other wide prime) and the remaining percentage is 50mm or 85 and such. Hope this helps!!

Liam Good Sorry. I see how that question could be interpreted multiple ways. I should’ve included “ when compared with other focal lengths”. Thank you for the response. I really want to get this lens. It’s such a beautiful focal length (with a wide aperture), but tricky to get right.

Tyler no problem man! It’s a gorgeous lens. I use it so much for creative and environmental portraits. It’s without a doubt my favorite Sony lens and probably the best one they offer frankly.
