FULL WEEK OF TRAINING - IRONMAN 70.3 BUILD
This is a full week of training as I build into the racing season, focusing on getting in volume and quality for each of the disciplines. In this phase of my training it was time to conduct some testing on the bike to adjust training numbers and track progression; the FTP test on Wednesday was the first test I have done in 2024. Here is how the week was structured:
Monday: Swim 1h, bike 1h
Tuesday: Run 45m
Wednesday: Bike 1h10m, Strength 30m
Thursday: Swim 1h15m (missed), run 1h (adjusted)
Friday: OFF
Saturday: Bike 1h50m
Sunday: Run 1h30m
Total planned: 9h
The actual totals for the week were:
Monday: Swim 54m, bike 1h5m
Tuesday: Run 47m
Wednesday: Bike 1h 10m, strength 29m
Thursday: Run 1h12m
Friday: OFF (mobility 18m)
Saturday: Bike 1h52m
Sunday: Run 1h44m
Total: 9h36m

Lower the hand a bit. You stretch it after entering water and it catch water. Also you could glide a bit more in streamline on your strokes, not being in a hurry to get the stroke going. It will help with your balance in water and also your breathing. Also you drop the elbow when you are trying to make a stroke, which isn't something you want. Let the forearm go down first with a bend in the elbow.

@@MattyJTri NP! Just glad to help. It took me a while to understand swimming myself. Just used force to propel myself in the water. But had to re-evaluate after getting pain in the shoulder due to the bad technique. When you get the points to match you will notice that every stroke will be kind of explosive and that you have like a rest between. You will not need as many strokes, but you will have a higher distance per stroke. That's very important for triathletes, to be effective and save energy for later. Swimming can drain a lot of energy if it's rushed.
