The person who occupied this place after the Battle of Red Cliffs was none other than Liu Bei! His spirit is still alive in Jingzhou District Office (Jingzhou Old City), which Guan Yu built for defense and guarded for 10 years. Liu Bei began to expand his influence from here. Immerse yourself in the interesting story contained in the old saying, ‘Liu Bei borrows the Jingju’, which is still handed down. Next, we visited Xianning (Hamning, 咸寧) in Hubei Province, a city that boasts a natural environment and is called the “Pearl of Hubei.” Xiandao Lake (仙島湖), a natural wonder that represents Xianning, is a lake studded with as many as 1,002 islands like stars and is one of the three largest Shendu Lakes in the world! Climb up to the observatory where you can enjoy a 360-degree view and look down at the breathtaking view. While walking around the lake, I see an incredible sight. There is a man walking on the lake? Walking leisurely on the water like the main character of a martial arts novel! As I got closer, I saw that he was standing on a bamboo pole, keeping his balance and moving across the water. What is this man's identity? The next place we visited was Ezhou (顎州), the capital that Sun Quan moved to govern the expanded territory after the Battle of Red Cliffs. Imagine Sun Gwon discussing affairs with his ministers while listening to the performance of the Pyeongyeong and Pyeonjong, instruments used in court music, at Bisugung Palace (Piseogung, 避暑宫), which is said to have been built to avoid the heat. Meanwhile, as Liu Bei continues to expand his power, Zhou Yu feels threatened and claims the Tianhai Basin Realm. However, not long after, he faces death on the battlefield. How far was the impact of the sudden death of Zhou Yu, a universal hero? In China, there is another Red Cliff besides the place where the Red Cliff War took place. This is Wen Chibi (文赤壁) located in Huangzhou (黃州). This is the place of exile for Su Dong-po, the greatest poet and calligraphy artist of the Northern Song Dynasty, who left behind the famous writing “Red Cliffs” during his exile.
