Euro Nymphing Tactics: Dry Dropper Fishing with George Daniel

When it comes to euro nymphing, there are few people more experienced than George Daniel. Guide, college professor of fly fishing, former Fly Fishing Team USA member-George has dedicated his life to fly fishing. He has honed his fly fishing techniques, especially euro nymphing techniques, through 1,000s upon 1,000s of days on the water.
In this video we spend a morning on the river dry dropper fishing for trout with George. While the main focus is on a mono leader and euro nymphing techniques, there are tons of great learning moments for those who fish with a standard fly line as well. He talks about flies, his rod and leader, how to approach and cover water, how to cast, how to land fish, and a whole lot more. This video is truly loaded with information!

nice video, I've been fly fishing since I was 16 yrs. old I had a man teach me to fly in New Jersey waters and I'am still doing it I'a, 76Yrs now I still fish N.J. and now I fish Tn. N.C. Cherokee waters now

Fairly New to Euro-nymphing. To get this straight (using the dry dropper method), you have just a few feet of your floating fly line out, connected to a tapered leader, connected to the dry fly with a few feet of fluorocarbon connected to your dropper (no sighter etc). Please correct me if wrong. Thanks for a great video. Andre from central Pa.

Hey Andre, yes, you got that right! No sighter needed in this case because the dry fly operates as our indicator. That, or you see a fish eat the dry!

ok, i live in europe and fly fish for twenty years and last i knew , there is no indicator when euro nymphing . so what youre doing must be the american version of euro nymphing

He is using a dry fly as his indicator. And, the fish often eat the dry fly!
