Brotherhood: a second adaptation because the manga was almost done. They were still in the brigs arc when brotherhood started, and Arakawa really struggled and had to push in order for the manga to release on pace finishing along side the anime.

@@arianne6759 Ed's automail hand doesn't _have_ a glove. It's in the character design. Like I said, look closer and you'll see the finger section divisions on the automail arm. The reason why it looks like a glove is because in a short shot like that, animators don't really care about detailing the characters like that. That's why it has the same colour as the glove on his other hand, but isn't actually a glove.

Not really? This guy wanted the arm but also wanted "upgrades" the higher ups didn't approve of. Since he did it anyway, that's why they got rid of him. Archer was still obeying orders and still willing; showing what hypocrites the military is. Archer was still their puppet to keep and a disobedient soldier is not someone to have around.

Long story short, the Fullmetal Alchemist anime outpaced the manga. FMA's creator gave the anime team permission to diverge and create their own story line. The robot man was part of said divergence. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood follows the manga all the way through, while the first anime stops much earlier on. Just after the Slicer brothers, IIRC.

Say what you want about the 2003 anime... But it had it's own thing. Sure Brotherhood looks better, but I think the original series did a far better job with it's story. It feels a lot less supernatural and more about science creating abominations. In Brotherhood, the thing I had problems with was that it got to a point where it felt like a competition to who was a bigger freak.

Brotherhood was a classical shonen, pointed mainly on fights, and was clearly targeted to work on kid's audience, that's why you had funny characters and cliché's like the little kid with the animal mascot. First FMA was a more mature product, even if with some flaws too.

Archer was severely injured after the Battle of Liore, and Bald was injured in battle and given automail for his injuries. I can only assume that Bradley wanted Archer to be a loyal dog and protect him to the very end, which is why he allowed Archer to get a canon for automail.

She presumably lost her womb/ovaries which would prevent her from having another child. The throwing up blood would suggest damage to either her kidneys, liver, or stomach. You can not just replace those unless you are giving her the Archer treatment by removing other intact parts of her body.
