You are the only one. The chimera are really popular. Exspecially when the show was out years ago. Y'all need to stop making these blanket statements, talkkng about something is underrated when it isnt.

@@crymeariver221 I mean I wouldn’t say it’s a blanket statement, that was like 12-13 years ago. Fan communities change a lot and even if they were really popular they aren’t these days lol, for all this commenter has ever known is that they are underrated because they haven’t been popular for so long.

@@crymeariver221 Mmm. Fair enough, I suppose. I had no idea. I guess I just wasn't familiarized with the fans' reception to them when the show came out, since I was introduced to the series far more recently. I've watched a lot (believe me, A LOT) of reaction videos to this series, and pretty much always, viewers seemed to be pretty indifferent towards the chimeras, so I guess that's where the sentiment came from.

the fact that Arakawa went out of her way to say that Father and Hohenhiem and the Western and Eastern Sages. Father went West to Amestris and brought his alchemy there and his influence caused it to become much more militaristic, and Hohenhiem went to Xing and his influence caused it to be mostly medicinal. it's such a small touch but it does wonders for the world building. also, fun(?) fact, the scene where Darius and Hienkel help Ed close the wound was inspired by Arakawa wanting to translate the feeling of childbirth into the show iirc.

The thing about Ed and the philosopher stone is that even if Ed had found it he wouldn't have used it to heal himself that's just the way he is, using that stone is the same as using alive humans and even if Ed would have died without it he still refuses to use it, the man has his principles.

2:40 if you remember back to that episode Ed retells the story of a man who travelled West and introduced alchemy to Amestris, and Fu retells a similar story of a man who travelled East and introduced alkahestry to Xing. They are talking about Father and Hoenheim respectively

Fun Fact: The author of FMA:B just had her 2nd child before working on this part of the story. So she wanted to show what it was like to give birth to a child. In doing so, she made Ed go through the pain we saw when the bar was being pulled out of him. Extra Fun Fact: This is the when the show got super real to me. I loved the previous mention scene. Every moment after this episode is badass, epic, and the best parts to any anime I've ever seen!

That's what makes FMA such a fantastic story. It doesn't minimize human suffering or the value of human lives. Characters can bleed and even die, often in VERY painful ways, and Ed and Al steadfastly refusing to break their rule about using the stones once they realize the awful truth of what is inside of them. I still remember the whole "To hell with it" scene; Ed's reaction was VERY believable and just sold how nightmarish these things are.

9:33 Fun fact: Hiromu Arakawa had just given birth to her second child at the time when this part of the story was being drafted for the series. So this scene was written and meant to portray the actual pain of her real labor experience as closely and as accurately as possible. Ed was basically a reflection of her in this part of the story and she wanted fans to know what she went through.

Keep in mind Ed and Al have already committed to fixing their bodies themselves. To use a philosopher’s stone is to use another’s life. They will never do so lightly and certainly never for their own gain.

Love this episode. Not only did it further emphasize how great of a villain Kimblee is but also I love how Ed was actually faced with repercussions to his mercy, where he refuses to kill anyone , and cause of that he ended up paying a big price. Equivalent exchange at it again and it's beautiful.

But at the same time that price opened a new chance for gaining something better, Two Friends who helped him and their cause in The most crucial moment, that wouldnt happen if he just killed them with Kimblee like a regular soldier would do

Youre missing something, it may be difficult, it may be hurt, but at the end it's wayy more valuable than just being an oportunist, he Made a huge sacrifice by not killing Kimblee and the chimeras and he pay the proof of extreme physical pain, but gained Two allies and Friends, he Even impacted Kimblee with his moral (that later in The most unexpected way worked on his favour), thats why being an empath it's worth , the same as having ethics in your work
@Kaempfdog

@@diegosotomiranda4107 I didn’t miss it. Brotherhood is all about the family you make through life and not just your blood family. Every person fits the mold and the only one Ed rejects is Hohenheim his true father right up til the end. Even over his new dad Mustang. He doesn’t make friends, he makes family members. Both from the tremendous loss in his personal family but to give himself and his new family a place to belong. Which he never felt he had with burning down his home. (And I think it’s fitting the house he’s building in the finale is his old family home. The one place he, and I imagine everyone he’s known is welcome.) It’s so freaking good. It’s just hard to focus on that aspect in that scene particularly.

Do not know if you've ever seen it but if you like sci-fi, especially classic sci-fi, try Babylon 5, the special effects are a bit dated but it was a brilliant series if a little heavy going at times and of course it is being rebooted, though I cant see the reboot being of the same quality but you never know.
