Episode 52 in and they're still confused about the Philosopher's Stone and the powers and weaknesses of the Homuncul.

Yep, it's a little frustrating to watch, even though as of this comment it's 2 years too late. Even though it's tedious and probably the hardest way, the best way to kill a homunculus is to wear out their Philosopher's Stone. It's like even this far in the Normies were still preoccupied with the Lust fight and their theories on how to kill her then, that they didn't catch what that fight teaches the audience- it doesn't matter where the Stone is, detaching it from the rest of the body doesn't kill them for good because they can just revive around it as their life source, unless you wear out the Stone first, so either way you have to wear a homunculus's "lives" down to their last before you can kill them for good. It also doesn't matter to try to attack their Stone directly because you can easily make them use up a life due to their human-based anatomy giving them the same fatal points as a normal human. In this case, Sloth is just a hulk, and so is probably more resistant to physical damage than the others (without Greed's Shield), and his speed and strength keep you on guard, but if you can get around his muscles, he can be killed as many times as it takes.

It just occurred to me. Sloth is the reluctance to work or do something (sometimes referred to as laziness). Major Armstrong was technically slothful during the Ishvalan War, has vowed to never do that again, and is now fighting the personification of sloth.

This has got to be the first reaction with people who genuinely don't like Kimbley at all. Also Sloth, not necessarily meaning the inability to do anything but rather choosing to not do anything despite having the power to do something. In this case, Sloth is the fastest Homunculi but chooses not to use his speed simply out of laziness.

you don't actually have to hit the philosopher's stone, you just need to make it burn out. Regenerating and reviving both use up energy from the stone, but regrowing an arm or healing an injury uses up less energy than kill shots

Though it seems like this story has a knack for balancing the overpowered abilities. Mustang's weakness comes in his proximity to allies. The more allies are peppered across the battlefield, the more he's forced to temper and diminish the strength and reach of his flames. And while focused bursts can certainly be beneficial in quite a number of situations, there are those who can take advantage of his reluctance, countering accuracy with speed and *reaction time.*

This episode is a good example of why Kimblee is more than just a typical antagonist. Instead of simply thinking the way he's chosen is the right one and enforcing those ideals onto others, he acts with neutral, yet realistic thinking. His conversation with Al shows that he can see other options on the table that are possible, such as having to choose, finding an alternative to an outcome, and the possibility of nothing going right. He may be a chaotic murderer, but he's not simple minded. 12:36 This is why I love Oliver Mira Armstrong as a character. Usually characters in Anime, even in this series at the thought of imminent death or in a situation beyond their control have a moment of fear. Mannequin soldiers closing in, a gun to her head, and a homunculous that travels faster than a person can react about to repair itself, instead of thinking this may be the end, she decides to put all or nothing on the table to ensure survival.

One of the details brought up early on (via Ed) is that philosopher stones are perfect, unbreakable substances, so they super aren't weak spots for the Homunculi. The only way to kill them is to make them use up all the juice in the stone by making them regenerate a bunch, like Roy vs Lust, or that time Scar almost killed Gluttony back when they first met Father! (also I love you guys' videos and I'm glad you like this show as much as you do)

'Fighting all out, is the biggest pain of all' - the ironic twist of Sloth being the fastest Homunculus fits well since Sloth isn't about just lethargy, it's about procrastination Pride and Kimblee underestimated the other member in the room, and with Marcoh using the stone to heal Heinkel's wounds, Kimblee is neutralized Funny how you mentioned the Spear last ep and then Ed uses it But MVP of this Episode goes to Alex, man tanked a Sloth charge to save Olivier and then fucking ANNIHILATED Sloth with that spike And Yoki in for the save (Hohenheim is in Central going for Father guys remember?) unlikely heroes flying all around the place Unbeknownst to Al though, Pride had tricked him into going to Central, the very place they were planning on taking him anyway, and he uses Kimblee as a snack to prolong Kimblee's life as an added soul to his stone, ironic since he would always swallow his stone, only for a stone to swallow back I shall repeat, ABSOLUTELY A N N I H I L A T E D But Olivier would not be outdone in being a badass, zero chill and when things get heavy for Ed and the Gang, Mustang comes blasting in, Marketa I don't think you can last the next 5 let alone the next 12, it's gonna melt your brain. only 54 and 64 have like post-credits scene, it's more a during-credits scene though.
