May I remind you that Bradley has: - Had his train blown up over a gorge with him on it - Walked at least 24 hours to get back to Central - Took down a tank by himself - Single-handedly turned the tide of the fight between Central and Briggs - Was stabbed through the abdomen - Had his Ultimate Eye destroyed by Greedling - Was shot in the shoulder - Fell a minimum of 50m into a moat - And is currently going head to head against Scar Bradley is, in my opinion, the peak of badass characters in anime.

I think what makes it impactful is that his body is weaker than his comrades. With him, you know it’s all skill. He has less room for mistakes. None of the other homunculi are fighting so hard, I think, because they don’t perceive death or injury or failure like Bradley does.

@@CastSenpai About why wrath doesn't have extra lives, it's because he had only one soul. When his philosopher stone injected, his own soul fought all of the soul in the stone, in the end only himself (he was not sure about that ,too) remained. On the other hand, Lin accept the stone completely. With those souls in stone, that's why Greed 2.0 can do regeneration.

It is so poetic that Scar accepts his brother's death by accepting alchemy, the thing that both gave him his life and took everything away from him. A sign that while he is more than his trauma, it is still a part of him and always will be. Just a new foundation for him to build on in the years to come.

One of the FMAB communities favorite pass time, before Patreon existed, was to tell reactors that this was the end, and the next 4 episodes is just Father going around twirling his mustache and stroking his cat. Arakawa would have been proud of us.

When you start a reaction series, just to essentially wait 59 episodes for this one. This episode is what cements FMAB as the greatest anime of all time, and one of the best sotries ever written.

You have father pegged I think, He's so dissatisfied with himself that he can't even accept the nature of his own existence. Instead of trying to enjoy those fleeting moments of satisfaction he tries to bend the world (and god) that made him this way to his will. That's kinda how I read him anyways.

The best part of Al leaving his body behind is, despite how obviously emotional he was, he still RAN past it for the portal. Elric brothers both have such massive hearts. Love every character in this show.

I know it seems obvious in retrospect, but I genuinely hadn't seen all the parallels and contrasts between Scar and his brother compared to the Elric brothers until Cast's watchthrough.

it's so interesting to think that father actually accomplished his goal. I don't remember seen in anime the "villain" winning, I believe that's why this episode make us feel so shocked

Fun fact: The title of the episode is a reference to the phrase “As above, so below.” One of the many themes in the show is that all is one, and one is all. Just as you are but one speck of the universe, one tiny insignificant being on a rock among endless stars, in an infinite heaven; So too are those stars just specks in the sky, yet it all connects to create one great All. To understand both the significant and insignificant, the heaven and the earth, can you truly come to understand life and your place within it. God himself states clearly as such: “Who am I? One name you might have for me is The World. Or you might call me The Universe. Or perhaps “God.” Or perhaps “The Truth.” I am All, and I am One. So of course, this also means that I am you.”

Scar's new arm of alchemy is even more poetic because it's reconstruction and not just construction. Creating new things is nice and all, but it's rebuilding that is very much needed after a war.

Ah yes the glory of the cliffhanger!!! This whole alchemic circle thing would be horrific enough if it was to make a philosopher stone (50 million human souls and that's not even counting the non-human animal life that gets consumed) but father's true intentions are even more terrifying! It's been said elsewhere in the comments but next episode is going to be fire!

This might seem a little random, but I really want to complement your audio mixing. It's nice to be able to crank the volume enough to hear the anime and not have to worry about getting my eardrums blown out by your commentary. It may seem like a little thing, but I've seen many people get it wrong.

22:00 Right. I think this lack of satisfaction is the root of the really obscure quote in Hoenheim's back story episode: "If all is not of the one, then all is nothing." Obtain all the power in the world, but without the corresponding personal growth and self-actualization, it will be meaningless acquisition, or as Cast said, "what was the point of it all?"

Power is not a solitary attribute, as it requires a lesser. Whatever form that lesser may take. But it is very clear that fathers obsession with humanity what he wants the power over. But if no one is left, truly, what is the point.

I technically don't know exactly how big the center of the circle is, but assuming it is only the chamber that Father was in, the only people to survive the transmutation (within Amestris) would be Father, Ed, Al, Izumi, Hoenheim, Mustang, May, Pride, Greed, and Ling. I'm not sure if there is anything significant about this particular set of characters, but it's certainly interesting to think about these ones being the only survivors.

the way i see it... the four stages to turn iron to gold.. or human to god the difference between father and hohenhiem mr ho was iron turned gold and remembered is iron origns and didnt look down on humans and what he was.. reflects how he treats people vs dwarf.. he also started iron and turned gold except he denied his humanity and looked down on what he was.. this reflects in how he goes to treat people also "perfect being" in paganism and alchmeny is a "hermaphrodite" both feminie and masculine equally just a thought.. both ho and dwarf in a way "merged" both became immortal which is trait of "perfect being" and both gain the others traits.. ho got the knowledge while dwarf go a body... butt they "split" as apposed to being "one" from the start cause dwarf came from ho's blood.. after this event where they merged then "split" as in dwarf went west and ho went east... what both did was polar opposites imo.. so maybe mr ho represent the Feminity side of the "hermaphrodite" perfect being so i guess more gentle and senstive and family vs dwarf who was more the extreme "masciluinty" side where he didn the opposite and was more about power and control... butt the funny part is.. mr ho never saw himself as gold.. always iron despite now being gold.. and he live and worked and struggled with the rest of the humans. vs dwarf who always saw himself as gold.. never iron... and he did nothing.. his "Kids" did all the work.. he literlaly sat there in the chair and didnt lift a finger.... mr ho didnt ask for his power butt was forced to have it yet he learned to understand it and use it to help people and busted his ass too dwarf didnt ask either .. he STOLE IT.. forced all to give it to hi.. he didnt learn jack shit cause all he does is just sit there and let his kids do everything.. xD this is my impression of dwarf up till now.. hes the biggest hypocrite.. like LITERALLY AND PHSYCIALLY TOO NOW.. in the whole show.. xD ==== as far as his goals and ur take on satisfaction.. i agree.. he'll never be satified.. id assume since he did earth gateway.. well there are bigger planets and stars and star systems and then galaxies then galaxy clusters.. and up and up and up.. to go.... xD if i was a evil shit like father... i wouldnt stop just with earth xD

It's interesting to me that he thinks he can overpower a universally powered being, using souls from beings much less omnipresent. Even if it was the whole world, and not just the one country I couldn't imagine that being equivalent. I wish I better understood the logic here, for why this price was considered enough.
