FMA 2003 is what really got me into Anime. Sure I watched some DBZ and Inuyasha before that, but it wasn't the same. This was it. I loved Brotherhood as well, a bit more actually, but there's still something special about the first one. I can't exactly find the words. Maybe it's the nostalgia factor kicking in, or maybe something else I dunno. It certainly had a bittersweet ending which is why FMAB provided such satisfying closure in the end. As much as I loved the happy ending in FMAB and although all the characters received their due, I feel like the original series' ending hit a lot closer to home in terms of the central theme(s) of the show. It felt a lot more real or believable if you will, because in life we don't always get what we want in spite of our efforts and good will. In contrast, FMAB was a little too "happy", a little too rosy, though certainly it's meant to be a hopeful, feel good narrative aimed at a teen audience and I'm fully behind that. FMAB reminded me a lot of ATLA actually. In life though we can only do our best and whatever happens, happens. Sometimes we prevail, but oftentimes we fail and have to try again or simply move on. To quote the final line of the 'Brothers' song English ver, "What's gone is forever lost, now all we can do is live." That's FMA in a nutshell and real life as well. As for the cover it is most excellent. I've been searching for an English cover for years as this is my favourite song of the franchise. The fourth opening fills me with much nostalgia and emotions until this day nearly two decades later. I love the interpretation of the lyrics you've chosen as well, especially the section that goes: _I once had a chance of a future but I lost._ _Between losing freedom or dignity as cost._ Those lines really struck me as they describe my life to a T. I had to give up everything for those that needed me the most. Freedom was the cost. You've done it justice, Amanda. Thank you. :)

Omg, felt the same. FMA (2003) was my first anime. I slightly love FMAB more because of the ending I guess. But yes, FMA (2003) makes me feel different i don't know how to express that feeling. I still listen Bratja (Brothers) it is good to see I'm not the only one! And I wanna start rewatching it because it's been a long time since I finished it. Yes, i guess i'll go and start again with episode 1...
