This is the first time I've have seen your channel and wanted to tell you that your explanation of time really hit home with me. I am currently battling cancer and time is all I have on my mind, hopefully a lot more of it as I'm only 44 with a wife and kids. I am very career based and always have been and this battle has changed my mind of what really matters. Since this cancer road has started my wife and I have gone camping twice during the early stages and we plan on a lot more. I wanted to thank you for the message of hope I felt from what you had to say about your friend.

When I was in the US Air Force during the 1980s and 90s ( Cold War ). I was a telephone linesmen and we were sent up to Alaska five times . We did some work on the DEW line. Both of the major air bases and an air base called Shemya . We did some work during the winter months and got to see the Northern Lights . And worked in 40 below weather. Your video brought back allot of found memories of Alaska. Thank you.

You inspired me. I lived in Shelton WA for ten years. ( you mentioned the skokomish river the " skok") and I also know bout the dust in the baggy. I got out of Mason County jail in June and moved to south Dakota. 7 months clean n sober. Saving money and dreaming of the Alaska life. Dad passed Christmas eve and left me a new truck and a boat . I'm working and putting everything away. If I ever run across you ( trucks easy to spot!) I'm gonna shake your hand. Thanks again.

As a Mom of a 45 year old guy. I’d say….😂 go home! Do the Haul Road when it’s spring! Had a friend in 1990 slide off the road just south of Prudhoe Bay. Totaled. Same kind of truck, 86’ though. Not diesel. Just being a worried Mom I guess. I did work on the slope in the early 90’s. Loved every minute of it. Thanks for the link to Mukluks! Oh, I was a welder helper working for Peak Oilfield Service. Contracting for Conoco. My man was the welder. 🙌🏼 good memories. Be careful!! Gets slicker than crap around Atigan Pass. 12% grade. Dangerous Stairway to the Arctic.. I wish you luck and really enjoy your videos, so sorry I’m being such a scary Mary. Just concerned about your adventure..

Suggestion: roast the flour in the dry pan a bit before adding the oil to make the roux. You can roast to not quite medium toast color and it will help eliminate the raw flour flavor. Then add equal oil to flour ratio. Cook the roux until chocolate or at least hot cocoa color. Your gumbo will have a deeper flavor with the chocolate roux. Be very careful not to burn the flour and keep stiring constantly the roux while cooking to keep it from burning. By a good flat end wooden spoon/spatula to keep it moving (and not damage pan if using nonstick God forbid) I enjoy your videos especially since you are showing that good food can be prepared in even a simple kitchen setup. Chicken wing drumetts and shrimp added later in the cooking really will set off the gumbo if you want to get fancy. Add some cayenne or favorite peppers while cooking, but keep quart bottles of your favorite hot sauce to kick it up just in case you are cooking for more than one.

Alaska is one of my favourite roadtrip destinations (followed by WA) so far in the US, although only had 3 weeks there in Alaska. Next is Colorado/Utah in September. I would love a setup like this, and that stove gahh! Froth. Anyway, I love how smart you are with all the things, a snow blower.. I have never seen that from any other youtuber. Rad stuff, will keep watching your adventures wishing I could even try this for a hot minute one day in the snow. I just would never do it solo cause, you know, Im inexperienced and death, hahaha. 🤘

Found you via your 3 part "North Pole" trip whilst I was watching another video whilst I wasn't signed in, coz KZbin keeps randomly insisting I'm using an ad blocker, I'm not, I just use Brave browser, anyway I remember in one of those (later) videos you said despite the pain you're in, you really enjoy "the art of editing", as an editor myself, I can really see it in this video, the first 15 minutes with no dialogue and you told a story, with some pretty shots and excellent cuts and shot choice (setting the camera up [in your head] in the right positions really help with this), you should be really proud man, I've seen people who edit for a living produce worse stuff. I also understand what you mean about your hands when editing, I have Cerebral Palsy and if it's too cold, and sometimes too hot, I struggle coz my muscles get stiff and sometimes it can be painful. Really enjoyed the latest few house building videos that I've watched too, I really like the aesthetic you've gone for, the dark metal with the copper and wooden looks sick.

Hey this is probably the second of your videos I watch and your cinematography is superb! I love the silent film on the first 10min of you cooking with takes of what is going on outside. So we'll done. Love your video and you got yourself a new subscriber 😊😊😊
