Don, the problem with your demos is that you make EVERY pedal sound incredible! It makes me want to add them all to my rig.

The boost switch is not a "second stage" it is merely a higher gain on the clipping op amp of this pedal, which is a single stage just like the tube screamer that it is based on.

Ppl say the non-mosfet version of this pedal is the "more sought after"- they're full of it. 1- you can get either version on Reverb for around 150 bucks so- not exactly unobtanium no matter which version you buy- but the mosfet version is less common. And imho, sounds better to. And it's not like you have to stay on that setting, it's just an option added to the normal version of the pedal. Most mosfet drives have a dirty sound to them- but not this one, it stays smooth and saturated even in the mosfet mode- just adds a richer bottom end to it. I really like it.

Excellent pedal but I use it on compcut to push my amp a bit then add the boost

Don does some great demos, and has great guitar faces as well! :-)

Great demo - and now I realize why I use the comp-cut mode primarily with this - it retains the clarity as I add the rest of my pedals downstream and blends well in context with the rest of the band, and it stacks nice after my Joe Walsh Double Classic (Analog Alien). Still need to play with it more though.

I acquired this same version of this pedal from a friend of mine, and I’m also playing through a Princeton Reverb. Wish I knew how Don had the amp settings. Sounded great to me! What pedals would you guys recommend to stack with this one? Mainly into Classic Rock and Blues.

Can this pedal work as a "boost" only when the overdrive side is off, but the boost is still on?
@imlostinthewoods8 жыл бұрын
For instance, to boost other pedals down the effects chain...
@sweetwater8 жыл бұрын
imlostinthewoods, the boost side of the Full-Drive2 is not independent; the "drive" side of the pedal must be engaged for the "boost" side to operate. However, the Full-Drive3 does have an independent boost function. Thanks for your question! Don Carr

Ya know, if Sweetwater consistently makes the gear sound good in their demos, Sweetwater should get our business. It's just the right thing to do, hmm?

This is not directly related to the video, but does using a harder, thicker pick, increase the chances of breaking strings? Today I felt it was the cause of breaking a string, when hitting them hard...
@BigIrishCrooner10 жыл бұрын
In my experience, this is usually NOT the case. Most times, it is due to weaknesses formed in the string either by aging or over bending. Strong string attack with a 2.0 mm pick does not seem to cause breakage for me, while bending does.
@MrHugosantos198210 жыл бұрын
Strings were not that old... Only thing I did that I usually don't do, was I had all strings loose for 2 or 3 days, because the neck was bending slightly, probably because of the weather suddenly becoming very hot and dry. Yesterday I tuned back to normal. Broken string was number 5, the second thickest, I don't bend the thickest strings that often. I use the whammy bar a lot though, sometimes aggressively. The string broke at the very beginning, at the bridge side. Anyways, it's not that big of a deal, I'm just trying to understand if there are ways to avoid strings breaking.
@BigIrishCrooner10 жыл бұрын
In that case it was likely a faulty string. Good looking out, though.
@MrHugosantos198210 жыл бұрын
Yeah, that was probably the case.
@blacktoothfox6772 жыл бұрын
Hmm. It's more in your attack? You are just as likely to snap strings with a really light pick, actually, IF that is really out of your comfort zone. I guess I'm saying establishing your happy-place in plectrumsville, and putting the time in, building muscle memory and sensitivity, that still now daily improves my pick-attack, over thirty years now since I began this wonderful journey. Hey I just hit 250 subscribers today, I'm in the mood to invite people! All the best out there 🍀 UK

You need to do more research before you talk. FM mode is flat modern or flat mids its got a flat eq therefore less mids than the vintage setting, thats also why it seems like less gain than vintage.
